The space
A few words about this wonderful river retreat. It is a secluded 2-acre park-like riverfront location with plenty of room for you and your family to romp and play freely in the fresh air. There is a large dock overlooking the river for bird and wildlife watching, and a smaller one for swimming and kayaking, not to mention fishing.
The house has a full kitchen, full bath, and washer and dryer in the adjacent shed.
I assure you that the house is cleaned to the utmost and that all linens, not just the sheets, are laundered prior to your arrival.
There is no need to have contact with any humans, however, it’s possible you'll see some chickens or a lamb or two.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions at all! Marga

This 867 square foot riverfront abode has a secluded feel while being close to the amenities of town. The property itself is a 2-acre peninsula, the San Saba River on one side and Los Moras Creek on the other. The tip of the property connects to a 4+ acre island, which provides additional areas for fishing, exploring, bird-watching, etc! Very private! There is parking available for several vehicles.

Where you’ll be

Menard, Texas, United States

The riverfront cottage sits at the end of a small, quiet road just 1.5 miles west of downtown Menard.
Being just above the Stockpen Crossing Dam, it is one of the widest parts of the San Saba River, offering excellent fishing, kayaking, swimming and wildlife viewing.
There are 2 parks in town, one along the historic irrigation ditch and one along the river under the bridge.
Menard County boasts many historical sites such as the Presidio de San Saba, once known as Presidio San Luis de las Amarillas, a fortress constructed in 1757 and designed to protect Spanish interests in the region, including nearby Mission Santa Cruz de San Saba.
Fort McKavett State Historic Site is also located in Menard County. It's a short 30-minute drive to see this frontier fort established as Camp on the San Saba in 1852 to protect settlers from Indian raids. The Menardville Museum is located at the old depot, just north of Hwy. 190 W.
