The space
Restful rambling medieval Manor House in rural valley 2 miles from England's only UNESCO World Heritage Site, the 'City of Bath'. The Manor House is classified as a 'British Ancient Monument' and is in a recognised 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'.

Documented in the Domesday Book of 1086 this is probably the oldest home in England, we know who lived here in 1262!

We have eight ensuite bedrooms, individually styled, each spacious and comfortable with kingsize or four poster beds, flatscreen TVs and a number of them have a fridge.

We offer free private parking for 10 cars, two reception rooms both with log fires, including a Tudor inglenook fireplace from 1539, gardens and a Victorian conservatory where you can all dine together in summer by candlelight.

We provide free WIFI, and a quiet location at the end of a no-through road.

We have two suites of interconnecting bedrooms dating from medieval and Tudor times. The suite on the second floor can accommodate five people: king sized four poster, double and single bed with 2 bathrooms, one wet room shower and one bath, and 2 TVs which suits families or a group of friends. The other suite of interconnecting bedrooms is on the ground floor and has access through French windows onto the garden. The first room which can be accessed from either the drawing or the dining room has a double bed, ancient flagstone floor and a small window, the other has a king-sized bed, three Windows, modern stone floor and the glazed doors to the garden under the rose arch. These two rooms share a small wet room bathroom, with shower, WC and basin. These two rooms are medieval and rustic so not for use by those who like modern sophistication in a bedroom.

The other four rooms are for couples, three have king-sized beds, one a four poster. The double bed has a Balinese canopy and is in a wonderfully light and spacious room. . We also offer a child’s travel cot.

You have full use of the kitchen for cooking, we used to run a restaurant here so it is well kitted out with big oven as well as Aga in winter, or you can eat at the cafe on the canal or at the local country pub.
Bike, boat hire and golf available 5 mins away.

Fabulous rural walks along the brook or the canal on the doorstep and a gastropub 4 mins amble along the lane.

Minimum 2 night stay at weekends and 3 for Bank Holidays. Bath 2.25 mls, University of Bath 1 mile, Bristol 12. Longleat 20 mins, Wells, Cheddar 30 mins, Stonehenge, Glastonbury, Salisbury 40 mins drive.

Bath and North East Somerset, United Kingdom

Monkton Combe is a charming village with a church, pub and school. It is the nearest village to the City of Bath (2.5 mls) but has a rural feel with rows of cottages, fields and a brook. The Manor is at the bottom of a no through road. It is the last house in Somerset as the brook marks the boundary with Wiltshire.
