The space
Inside:
The kitchen/dinning area seats four comfortably. Fully equipped kitchen with full size fridge, dishwasher, oven and coffee pod machine. Its the hub of the home and the kind of space that encourages late night chats next to the wood burning stove. The pantry is stocked with the chef essentials, olive oil, vinegar, salt & pepper etc. Bake a cake, create a gourmet cheese platter or cook a feast.
Gorgeous lounge/family area full of natural light. Perfect for relaxing with a good book or admiring the classic Australian landscape through the vintage double windows.
We want you to relax and reconnect so we don’t have a television - enjoy the silence and sounds of nature.
NOTE: the couch is not suitable for sleeping due to the premium velvet fabric. Guests are not permitted to sleep on the couch.
Master bedroom has a luxurious king bed. An electric blanket for added warmth during the cooler months will help keep you extra cosy.
Second bedroom: Two single beds with electric blankets and green outlook. Perfect for the kids, a couple, or friends. Plenty of hidden storage.
Bathroom: Double shower featuring a beautiful vintage stained glass window. Double vanity with large mirror. Heated towel rail and overhead heat lamps.
Heating: A charming fireplace in the kitchen is small but mighty and heats the entire home. Wood is supplied and we will show you how to light the fire. The fire is only available during winter months. Electric blankets are fitted on all beds. There is also reverse cycle heating.
Cooling: reverse cycle air-conditioning. The Hills are renowned for their cooler temperatures during summer - a welcome escape from the city heat.
Outside:
Several alfresco eating or sitting areas, including wrap around verandah with a covered outdoor dinning area. Private BBQ area. Lots of secluded spots to enjoy a picnic among the trees.
Secure car parking and private entrance.
Listen to the birdsong and spot the frisky koalas and resident kangaroos.
Pool is available during summer months only and its available to guests checked in to the cottage staying overnight.
WEDDINGS / GATHERINGS / EVENTS / PHOTOSHOOTS
We love hosting events! We have designated outdoors areas for events including an all weather barn. Events are subject to agreement and attract fees and a bond. Please do not instant book if you are planning to host an event - send us a message first.
The home is central to many events including Tour Down Under and Crush (Hills Wine Harvest Festival). Top-notch eateries and the ever-popular Stirling Hotel, award winning Crafers Hotel and family favourite Aldgate Pump Hotel are just a short drive away.
Your home in the hills is easily accessible from the freeway.
Guest access
The entire cottage is yours to enjoy, including the surrounding fields, bushland and gardens. The pool is shared with the main homestead. The pool is only available for guests checked in and staying overnight in the cottage. The cottage is a fully self contained, completely separate guest house, privately tucked into its own paddock, fifty meters from the big house. There is plenty of space for parking just next to the cottage, for up to 2 cars. It is just a short walk down the drive to the 15 meter pool and deck. The cottage has steps down from the car park to the front door. Guests are welcome to enjoy the paddocks, meet the animals and enjoy the expansive sky and brilliant stars.
The laundry is availed 9am
- 5pm for guests staying three or more nights. It’s shared with the main homestead.
Other things to note
Cottage and property is for checked in guests of the cottage only - visitors are by prior arrangement only and additional cleaning fees may apply.
Pool is available for the use of checked in guests only. Its a shared facility and available only during the summer months. No glassware in the pool area and children under 16 years of age must be supervised by an adult at all times.
Fireplace is only available during winter months. We provide a barrow load of wood with kindling and firelighters. If you need more supplies they can purchased from the Stirling Wood yard close by. Please don’t use wood or sticks found on the property as it can cause smoke and damage to the fireplace resulting in additional cleaning fees.
Infrared sauna available - additional charge $20 for 45 minutes (maximum two people. Not suitable for children)
In summer, you MUST always have a fully charged mobile phone and be with someone who can drive in case of bush fire. On days with a catastrophic fire danger warning your booking will be canceled or postponed access until the fire danger has passed. Your safety is our primary concern.
Guests are not permitted to sleep on the couch. It’s a premium velvet couch and not suitable for sleeping.
Please do not park on any lawn areas as we are working hard to establish and maintain our lawns.
Events are welcome. Contact us for details - event fees apply to any gathering of people greater than the 4 guest maximum.
Please stay at our 10kmh speed limit inside the property, there's no rush :)
If there is a koala or kangaroo on the drive please stop and let it decide where it wants to go as they may hurt themselves when frightened.
