The original part of this Cherry Valley farmhouse was built in 1800. The original barn site has been converted into a beautiful perennial flower garden. The farmstead is at the end of the road and surrounded by hundreds of acres of hayfields with spectacular vistas. The location is very quiet yet less than a mile from the center of town and just 20 minutes from Cooperstown. The house has excellent high-speed internet and wifi for online learning and streaming movies.

The space
The house has 2344 square feet, including a full kitchen, two newly renovated bathrooms, laundry room, dining room with large table, library, living room with tv and stereo system, and five bedrooms. In addition, there is a beautiful front porch. Cable is provided, including high-speed internet and land line phone. Verizon cell service is excellent. Cherry Valley, New York, United States

Cherry Valley is an historic town that was settled well before the American Revolution. It did not fare well during the Revolutionary War, but more than recovered afterward. Cherry Valley has been morphing into a quiet artsy community ever since US Route 20 bypassed the village in the 1950s. It is a residential home for the Glimmerglass Opera and a vacation home for many travelers to Cooperstown. Otsego County was the center of American hops production in the 1800s, later a center of New York State's dairy industry. Glensfoot Farm, whose lands surround this house, was formerly a local producer of dairy products but has since been entirely converted into hay production.

My life is built on sustainability, landscape study, and appreciation of both the natural and cultural environment. I've thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail, explored wilderness, climbed high mountains, and traveled across the western hemisphere and beyond from Ireland to Tierra del Fuego. The old family farm near Cooperstown has always been a home to me. My wife and I also have a home in New York's Hudson Valley at the foot of the Catskill Mountains.
