Relax in a slice of Uralla's history. King's Cottage, circa 1886 has been lovingly restored and renovated, offering guests the charm of yesteryear, coupled with modern day conveniences.
Each bedroom features a period gas flame fireplace, as well as the bathroom where you can lay back in the bath gazing in to the fire as you relax.
The cottage also features gas central heating throughout and an expansive sunroom/dining and lounge area has its own dedicated wood burner, for those cosy evenings.

The space
There is a modern fully functional, new kitchen with electric, ceramic cooktop and oven, plus microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher.
In addition, a washing machine, clothes line, iron and ironing board are available for your convenience. During the warmer months, meals can be enjoyed at the large outdoor table and chairs in the rear, private garden or alternatively at the table and chairs on the western verandah.

Semi retired, having left the family farm. I live in a heritage building in Uralla (the original Uralla Literary Institute circa 1886) which has been restored, renovated and extended into a wonderful home. Uralla is located just south of Armidale in the New England region of northern NSW. Having found a lovely house in Uralla (another circa 1886) which was needing care, together with the builders renovated the house from the ground up and it is now available for stays, the listing is Kings Cottage. Many compliments have been received from both the locals and visitors to Uralla regarding the renovated Institute and garden and have participated in the region's open gardens, something that brought great pleasure. Similarly, Kings Cottage is well recognised and admired within the local community. Travel both within Australia and overseas brings great joy with Venice and Queenstown, New Zealand being favourite overseas destinations. Enjoy the occasional stay in 5 star hotels but am equally drawn to cozy, intimate B&B cottages. Enjoy good wine, good food, good surroundings and good company. Listening tends towards classical music and the cricket, especially during a long drive, of which many are done. The aim is to complete one major travel holiday annually with shorter stays throughout the year, hence the interest in Airbnb.

During your stay

We are pleased to offer our guests suggestions regarding Uralla and the surrounding region. If you have questions, simply call or SMS.
A visit to McCrossin's Mill Museum is a must do, as well as the Visitor Centre, where you can obtain a map and booklet for the town's Heritage Walk to discover Uralla's historic buildings and homes, of which Kings Cottage is one example.
A short 10 minute drive from town will bring you to Gostwyck Chapel and the 3 story DRG shearing shed, one of the largest in Australia.
Discover the gorges and wild waterways along Waterfall Way from Armidale.
For something quite different on longer stays, consider taking the morning train to Willow Tree for lunch at Graze Restaurant at the Willow Tree Hotel and return to Uralla on the afternoon train. The trip takes approximately 2 1/2 hours each way and offers an interesting overview of the region down to the Liverpool Plains.
