Ever wondered what it feels like to live off-grid? To grow and eat organic food? To be wifi free? The Crossing Land is an environment education centre and sustainable site for families, groups, couples or individuals to holiday and connect in. We have river access , permaculture gardens, solar power, rainwater tanks, chickens, sheep, composting toilets, wood stove, outdoor campfire, cosy private bedrooms and train carriage bunk rooms for the more adventurous. Participation on site encouraged.

The space
The entire site is available for booking in this listing. We can accommodate 33 people if the double beds are used by couples/two people. We host many education groups on our site throughout the year so are equipped to support large visiting groups.

Please note that airbnb only has a maximum of 16 on their forms. The booking fee you see online is for up to 16 people. We have an additional charge of $35/person per night for every person beyond 16. Just reach out to us with a message as you book to tell us the total adults and children in your booking. Airbnb have advised paying the additional person fees through the resolution centre . Once we accept your booking offer for up to 16 we will reach out to to you through the centre with a request for the additional guest charges.

Only our family rooms are listed separately on airbnb. Our three train carriage bunkrooms are not usually listed but we may list them during peak periods. However we will not list the train carriage bunkrooms or any other rooms if we receive an entire site booking and guarantee you will not share the site with other guests outside of your group. Each has 4 double bunks, so you can have multiple families or friends or just some unique rooms for the kids.

For two families ie a group of 9 or less it would be more economic to book the rooms separately as below:

If you are a family of 5 then Bedroom #1 and Bedroom #2 booked together is a much more economic way to book The Crossing Land.

If you are a family of 4 then our Bed #3 & #4 option would suit better.

Please note that we have length of stay discounts: 5% for 3-4 nights, 10% for 5-6 nights, and 12% for 7 nights.

Guest access
Guests will be able to access the common kitchen, Community Hall lounge area and bathrooms, and are encouraged to spend time in our lush permaculture gardens and native surrounds.

Other things to note
We aren't connected to wifi, but a few areas of our site pick up Telstra reception. We are keen to welcome people who can feel at home in our space but who can act with care to our low impact systems, such as being conscious of power and water usage and using chemical free products. Also we are a pet free site with a signed Conservation Agreement to protect our abundant native wildlife.

I am an outdoor educator and permaculture designer. Over the last 25 years I've hosted journeys and experiences that help people, especially young people, to live more sustainably. My wife and I co-founded The Crossing Land Environment Education Centre in 1998 and it is fantastic to now have families stay here as Airbnb guests to experience sustainable living.
