This Victorian mid-terrace cottage is situated in a hamlet, two miles outside of Bala, a gateway to Snowdonia National Park with pubs, restaurants and outdoor activities. Our cottage is surrounded by farms and hills, a perfect spot for a getaway. There are walking paths in front of the house, leading you through the stunning Welsh landscape; Llyn Tegid (Lake Bala) is 5 minutes away; Yr Wyddfa (Mount Snowdon) is a 60 minute drive. The magnificent beaches by the Llyn Peninsula are only 45m away.

The space
NOTE- please make sure to adhere to Welsh Covid rules applicable during your stay.

We wanted to create a place that would be easy to settle into, for us when we stay for a weekend, and for guests who come for the first time. We've stayed in many houses before we bought this cottage - Gorffwysfa - and made a list of what we liked or thought we could do better. We hope you share our priorities and taste:
- an LP player for music
- a good coffee percolator and a French press for coffee lovers
- good quality beds and pillows
- professionally cleaned and easy to keep clean
- a wood burner and wood
- a washing machine
- the kitchen is well equipped so that you can really cook - there is a slow cooker which is useful when out on a hike all day
- unlimited WIFI (high speed 4g, absolutely fine for, streaming, zoom, etc.)
- there are lots of things for kids to play with
- for young parents we've arranged the essentials to make life easier.

The front porch, which is protected from wind, has a large picnic table and the elevated back garden has a terrace. Both gardens have views over the fields and hills. The house is small, but cosy, well-equipped and efficiently furnished.

There is a king size bed in one bedroom, and one full size single bed with a slightly smaller pull out bed underneath in the second bedroom. In the living room there is a double sofa bed.

For babies and toddlers there is a Deryan toddler-tent with mattress, a very good hiking carrier, stair gates, a booster seat and a puree machine. There is a playground in the hamlet.

Check-out time can be later most days - please just contact me to discuss.

There is road-side parking - you can park just a few meters up the road opposite the Chapel/next to the graveyard. To load/unload you can park in front of the house.

Pricing summer 2021 & important notes:
£80 per night
£60 weekdays outside of school holidays
Standard £45 cleaning fee - Please note this has been slightly increased due to the need for deep cleans, protective equipment and increased time between guests due to the Corona-outbreak. We hope you accept the need for us to increase the cleaning price in line with the increased cleaning time and materials.

Please note the minimum stay is 2 nights outside of school holidays and 4 days in July/August.

Covid 19-
We have had to slightly increase the cleaning fee as we have increased the time needed for cleaning, as well as the amount of days left between guests, and we will need to ensure correct protective equipment. We are following the AirBnb cleaning guidelines. We ask you to please follow local guidance regarding Covid-19.

Generally though, this cottage is safe as it is self-catering and in a relatively remote area where contact with others can be easily avoided.

I live in London with my family. We are from the Netherlands. I work at a small company, doing the finances, and my husband is a journalist. We have two daughters, aged 10 and 5.

During your stay

We are a Dutch family of 4 who live in London and come to the house roughly every other weekend. We bought the house in 2018 and from the start have furnished it with the aim of renting it out, so it holds the middle between a homely weekend house and a B&B. We've spent lot's of weekends getting to know the house and the surroundings since then, and are now ready to share the experience.

Our caretaker for the cottage, who lives nearby, keeps an eye on the cottage and will be there to help if we can't help you from a distance.
