Welcome to Cedar Springs Reserve. The property is 137 acres, and surrounds 398 acres of shallow lake and wetlands. Winter is a time of silence and solitude. Spring a time of quiet renewal. Summer a riot of growth with eagle, beaver, otter and loons to observe. If you enjoy fishing there are perch bass and bluegill to be teased out of the lilies, but you will have to work hard to find them.

Fabulous river tubing just minutes away. Boat rentals and sand beaches at Shawano lake not far away.

The space
Spread out into a comfortable King Master Bedroom with its own sitting area, TV, closet and full bath. A second queen bedroom awaits with a full closet, TV, and its own exterior door. The "Hardy Boy Room" is a small room with two twin beds, bureau and closet. There is a loft with two more twin beds, accessed by a narrow spiral staircase. We are always adding finishing touches so we want to inform you that not all areas are complete yet.

The living room is open-concept, with a gas fireplace and TV, and two sliding doors lead out to a large deck. TV watchers take note: this is a remote area and satellite TV is our only technology choice. This service can be spotty, especially in bad weather, (and there is a lot of that in Wisconsin) and we can NOT guarantee perfect reception all the time. If TV is important to your happiness on a vacation away, please don't choose our place, as we have no control over the situation.

WIFI users: wifi is also sattelite based. that means you can check your emails and respond, but dont expect to be able to stream movies.

Cell Phone service. some guests have service here, some dont. I would plan on very poor coverage and that way you wont be disappointed. Most have good coverage in town 3 minutes away for sure.

Our house does have surround sound now with bluetooth so you can play your own tunes and they will sound good.

Guest access
Guests may have full run of the property, except for the storage garages where we keep our equipment. There is a wood pile outside for our construction materials, please instruct children to keep clear of that. There is a large bar/sunroom that is being worked on but not ready for occupancy yet.

Other things to note
Starting Sept 1st-thru the end of the year is waterfowl hunting season, the lake is popular with duck and goose hunters just want you to be aware of this if you hear gunshots, not to be alarmed. Our place isn't 100% perfect yet as there are planned amenities we are still working hard to complete. as of 8.31.2020 the sunroom is not complete, all other rooms in the house are. the dock had to be removed because it was in really bad shape (we will rebuild it, but you can still launch the canoes and kayaks easily at the gravel launch site) the hot tub/pavilion is still under construction, but definitely usable, (it is functional but the exterior siding is not on it, its not "beautiful") . There is an area outside where we keep the wood we are working on (all the wood we use is from the property and has to be be cut and sawed, hand-peeled).

Location

Gillett, Wisconsin, United States

The town of Gillett is only a few minutes away and it is the (self proclaimed) "ATV capital of the World", on a nexus of trails that go on for hundreds of miles.

There is a quaint main street with a few homey restaurants and bars, there is a small grocery store, dollar store and gas station, bank and ATM, a couple gift stores and re-sale shops, and a couple beauty parlors.

Items of note: "Spirits" bar and grill is a typical Wisconsin family bar with table seating and great food: what to order: the Reubens are astoundingly good. The burgers are really good. Our favorite deal of a meal? "the Hangover Burger" 1/3 lb of hand formed patties with all the fixings, topped with an egg, served with a mountain of hash browns (order them "stuffed), comes with a bloody mary and a beer chaser: only $10 bucks.
OJ's on Main St.: Great family style stick to the ribs foods like meatloaf and chicken dishes but the REAL reason to come is for the 50s style malted milk shakes and OH THE PIE!! They are FAMOUS for their pies and not a single one will disappoint. The writer's favorite is the banana cream pie - TO DIE FOR. Friday fish fry is awesome as well and highly reccomended.

My husband and I are serial entrepreneurs who enjoy doing things together, work, play, hunt, fish, garden. (Check out our startup company "Roving Blue". ) We are easy-going, low stress folks and appreciate hosting the same kind of people. We trust you will enjoy our home (s) and would treat it with the same respect that you would treat your own. We have put our heart and soul into renovating the house, and building the tiny floating house unique property. The sun room is not complete yet so we don't advertise it at this time, and the price is adjusted lower accordingly. We welcome your interest and are eager to answer any questions that you may have so please ask away!

During your stay
If you are looking for privacy, this is a good choice. The entire property is shared by only one other rental, see: "Summer Solstice, Tiny Floating House", which only accommodates 2 people. They stay out on the lake and will park down by the kayak/canoe landing.

We won't bother you a bit, but stand ready by our cell phones in case you need anything. Note: to contact us you may need to get to civilization. The small town of Gillett is only 3 minutes away and is a nice little town to explore. (See our guide book for tips on great places to eat, etc)
