Escape the city, suburbia and crowds & take a step back in time in our petite 70's retro caravans, dotted in private locations on our 120 acre property. Enjoy bush walking, campfires, BBQ's and more at Wild Valley, South Gippsland, Victoria.
We have combined our shared passion for breathing new life into discarded and vintage finds as well as our love of entertaining to create unique little getaways in the shape of retro caravans! Our retro orange 1978 Viscount, sits in the valley and is tucked away from the rest of the world. Decked out in original finds from the 70's and items inspired by the decade we grew up in - from Australia & France!
The van is equipped with the basic necessities to enjoy a relaxing escape from the city and the rest of the world if you choose to. There is a choice of indoor (gas) cooking and a BBQ out on the deck, bar fridge, cooking utensils and basic condiments are supplied - fossick in the cupboards for some more relics from the 70's to set your own scene.
The van has a cosy double bed (with electric blanket) and the table will fold down to make another (slightly smaller) double bed. We have had plenty of couples sharing the space comfortably however, please keep in mind this is a small area. All sheets, blankets and pillows and basic bath towels are supplied,
Above the van is a cleared site suitable for a few tents, so if you want to bring along a group of friends there's plenty of room!
A few metres away nestled in the trees with views of the valley is our bush toilet (long drop) and shower with a view. Made completely from recycled materials and footpath finds, you will only be sharing these facilities with the birds.
An abundance of wild life, birds and untouched landscape will be yours to enjoy during your stay. Sit quietly on the deck and listen for the various sounds from the shy, rarely sighted Lyrebird or catch a wallaby grazing at sunset.
120 acres of Australian bush, temperate rainforest, farmland and a tropical oasis in the gully.
The 'Big Shed' on top of the hill has a wood fire, sofas, pool table & camp kitchen...a great space to hang out alone or with a few extra friends.
Interaction with guests
We are happy to meet and greet you, explain the layout of the property. After showing you to the van you can shut out the rest of the world and relax in the abundance of nature surrounding you. If you feel like a bit of other human interaction, come and join us and any other campers around in the 'big shed', another great spot for an outside bonfire or cosy up inside by the copper fire place.
Other things to note
The access to the van is via a steep hill with approximately 30 steps...your car will be parked at the top of the hill so please keep this in mind when packing for your stay!
Stay cosy and warm in the cooler months as the van has a small heater and electric blanket on the main bed.
Please advise us of any furry friends you will be bringing with you.
We have loved giving the freedom to pet owners to bring along their furry mates however, we are now required to restict them from sleeping inside UNLESS guests can guarantee there is absolutely no trace on any rugs, bedding or furnishings. All droppings outside must be buried. We have purchased 'doggy' tents to borrow if you think this would be a better option to set up. Please be responsible and don't force us to restrict pets completely. Thank you :)
We are a creative couple who love to meet new people and share stories of our travels and life in this part of the World. Eric, a landscape gardener originally from Paris, found this beautiful property 20 years ago to plant his 1000 olive trees...a few remain on top of the hill! I am a fashion/interior/home wares designer with a passion for recycling, salvaging and giving old things new life.
