In the middle of Ebisu, Daikanyama and Nakameguro, this apartment could not be better located - if you miss last train you are never far away by cab. Being on the Hibya line the commute business areas is fantastic so the apartment is also ideal for someone temporarily needing to work in Tokyo.

The space

Simple, private 3rd floor 35 square meter sunny, south-facing 1 bedroom apartment in the best part of the city. The apartment is a few minutes walk to Meguro river which is a famous cherry blossom viewing destination surrounded by great cafes, restaurants and shops.

Located 4 minutes walk from Nakameguro station (Hibya, Toyoku lines), 2 minutes walk to Daikanyama (famous swanky shopping area), 10 minutes walk to Ebisu (Yamanote line, standing/wine bars and great dining) and 15 minutes walk into Shibuya.

The apartment has a fully functional kitchen, living room, separate toilet, shower, bath, air-conditioning, washing machine and ADSL WiFi (not pocket WiFi) internet access.

What I most like about the apartment is that unlike most buildings in the inner city, it is not jammed up against other buildings so the view from the balcony is quite expansive. In addition, there is very little traffic passing in the street below so it is remarkably quiet considering the central location. That said, there are some hip bars in the area and in the evenings in summer you can hear some liveliness from the street at night - particularly if you leave the windows open. Typical inner city living.

Guest access

Guests have full exclusive access to the apartment.

Other things to note

The WiFi speed is max 100Mbps down, in reality it hovers around 10Mbps but it varies.

The bed size is SD (semi-double) which is quite common in Japan and is like a slightly smaller double. The actual width of the bed is 120cm. The sofa in the living room can be converted to a single bed for guests.

Andrew's neat and tidy apartment was easy to check into. Location is superb, walking distance to great local eating, drinking, shopping and transport while still being quiet enough to sleep in if you have a late night.

Extremely convenient for access to the river, local area and the metro system. Andrew's place is great if you need a pied-à-terre for this stylish corner of Tokyo - and perfect if you're lucky enough to visit for hanami season in spring.

This place is perfect to feel like a local in Tokyo. The location could not be better, close to great bars and restaurants, as well as the beautiful canal. The apartment is quite spacious and updated, especially for Tokyo standards. Everything is as described and photographed. Andrew is a responsive and kind host and made me feel at home. Would absolutely recommend and hope to stay again when I come back.

I always love to stay at this non touristic area which is walkable to Daikanyama, Ebisu and Nagameguro which has a lot to offer yet away from the rowdy crowd.

Aussie guy married to a lovely Tokyo girl. Love to live in big cities where the good art and ideas are. To me Japan is a beguiling enigma that a decade on still continues to defy classification - always fun and interesting day by day. I prefer guests who, like myself, treats the apartment as their own and want to get a glimpse of what it is actually like to live in the culture as opposed to being insulated and lost in translation in a hotel.
