Beautiful area
Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Our lodge was built by master carpenters, the massive feature beams impose a secure and natural presence in the lodge. Our combustion fire will ensure the winter chills are kept outside as you dine in full view of Mount Buffalo through our 10m high windows.
Our property is a time out zone with no TV reception and minimal phone signal. Leather sofas invite sleepy afternoons, and cuddlesome nights. As a land for wildlife property, you'll meet wallabies, wombats, deer, owls, and king parrots.
The space
We’ve approached every detail with the care an artist would give to his or her masterpiece. The 1st floor is occupied by an indulgent master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and spa bath with views across virgin forest that spoil you. Downstairs there are luxurious queen and double bedrooms, with a shared bathroom that includes a shower and an elegant cast iron claw-foot bath.
Our property is at the foot of Mt Buffalo and backs onto Mt Buffalo National Park. Scattered around the grounds are approximately 100 fruit trees, planted as rent by those who stayed in the original hut throughout the years. We'd love you to help yourselves to our organic lemons and whatever other fruit you can find during your stay.
The Lodge is managed in accordance with Land for Wildlife, a voluntary scheme that encourages and assists private landowners to provide habitats for wildlife on their property. We provide a spotlight for guests to search for animals at night. You are likely to see wombats, wallabies, kookaburras, lyre birds, bower birds and even occasionally the rare yellow bellied gliding possum on our property. We are contributing to mitigation of the pollination crisis in Australia by setting up a bee hive on the block.
Adults and kids can enjoy the grounds of the lodge with two swings, a tree house, an enormous maple tree to climb and 20 acres of bush to explore or picnic in. We do have tea lights that guests can use, on request, to plan a special night time dine in the forest or a treasure hunt for their loved one/s.
Guest access
Please note that guests who move the furniture around will be charged $100, ditto for not cleaning the BBQ prior to your departure.
Our Private Chef is inspired by the fresh and seasonal produce the region is renowned for. She delights in creating seasonal menus that showcase handcrafted cheese from Mliawa, pastes and oils from Mt Buffalo Olives, Dukka from Pumpkin Seeds, Apples from Wandiligong, Trout& Salmon from Harrretville and game from Albury, to name a few. Nat in consultation with you will design a mouthwatering feast to share with your loved ones. Please contact us for her details.
Yoga - Kylie will come to the lodge for a private small group class in the shade of our maples and Mt Buffalo. Ring Kylie at Ginger Ki Yoga & Wellness.
Concierge Services - Imagine arriving to your comfortable accommodation where a scrumptious selection of food hampers awaits you with dinner and breakfast for the whole family sorta. Nick and I fell in love with Bright on a hang gliding holiday many years ago, shortly afterwards we bought the 20 acres that became Red Earth Lodge. We're avid outdoor enthusiasts, photographers, mountain bikers, trail runners. We love reading, watching movies, good food, and chilling in front of a fire with a glass of red! Red Earth Lodge is the perfect getaway for us to indulge our love of the outdoors, gourmet food, wine and chillin'.
