Set on a working micro rose farm in the Victorian highlands, the Miner's Cottage is a fully restored 1860s heritage retreat where every detail has been considered and nothing has been left to chance. Mineral-purified cedar hot tub; a steam shower with handmade Portuguese tiles; an immersive indoor-outdoor cinema; breakfast provisions all inclusive and 1,500 organically grown heritage roses just outside the door.
Styled by Belle Bright Project and featured in publications across Australia, the UK, USA and New Zealand, this is the stay guests book once and return to again and again.
Travelling with a larger group - or with your dog? The Potting Shed, our second onsite cottage, accommodates up to two additional guests and warmly welcomes four-legged companions. Book both properties together to have the entire Acre of Roses to yourselves.
The Rooms: The cottage sleeps up to four adults across two beautifully appointed bedrooms, each named for the world that inspired them. For groups of up to six, or for guests travelling with dogs, The Potting Shed can be booked alongside the Miner's Cottage - giving your group exclusive use of the full property.
The Chinoiserie Room - delicate furnishings with Asian influences, a queen bed, and French doors opening to a private verandah with a hanging cane chair. A room that invites you to slow down before you've unpacked.
The Fornasetti Room - a king bed beneath a striking feature wall mural, French doors to a second verandah, and the option to split into two singles if required.
Both rooms are dressed in Cultiver linen and Bemboka woollen blankets, with panel heating, a wood heater, split system and electric blankets ensuring warmth regardless of season.
We also offer The Potting Shed which sleeps 2 and is dog friendly.
The Experience:
Cedar Hot Tub & Outdoor Copper Shower: Rainwater-filled and purified with mineral salts, the private cedar hot tub is yours alone - no shared pools, no timetables. The adjacent outdoor copper shower is set up for hot/cold contrast therapy when you're ready for it.
Steam Shower & Bathroom: A glass-enclosed steam shower room tiled in handmade Portuguese ceramics. A freestanding antique cast iron clawfoot bath set beneath a deep bay window overlooking the Silver Garden. Double pedestal basins, Biology & Salus toiletries, bathrobes and full bath sheets provided.
The Chef's Kitchen: An ILVE 7-burner gas cooktop, commercial Italian butterfly coffee machine, fully stocked pantry, and fresh seasonal produce and herbs from our kitchen potager garden. Everything you need to cook properly - or to do absolutely nothing and eat your way through Trentham's exceptional food scene instead.
The Indoor-Outdoor Cinema: A weatherproofed theatre room with a full cinema screen, projector and surround sound opens to the garden. Netflix, board games, a library of DVDs and books. You genuinely won't need to leave.
The Rose Farm & Gardens Beyond the cottage sit 1,500 heritage rose bushes, an apothecary and fermenting garden, a mini apple orchard, a brick folly and a woodland garden. Rose farm and garden tours are available by appointment in the warmer months — your hosts Sandy and Rob are glad to show you what they've built.
What's Waiting For You: Sandy and Rob prepare the cottage before every arrival — hot tub heated, fires set, music playing, breakfast provisions stocked. Homemade croissants ready to bake, fresh bread, eggs, seasonal produce, champagne. The details guests write home about.

Good to Know: The cottage is adults-only and strictly non-smoking. It is yours exclusively - no shared spaces with other guests. Pricing is based on two guests per night; additional guest fees apply for three or four. Children may be accommodated by prior arrangement - please contact Sandy to discuss. The rose farm and woodland garden are viewable by appointment only.
Trentham's main street - with its bakery, wine bar, pub and farmers market - is a short, flat walk from the gate.

Guests can utilise the theatre room, spa pavillion. The Rose farm and Woodland garden/The Folly viewing by appointment only in the warmer months .
