The space
Be spellbound by the light filtering through the colourful glass in our cob walls and allow your imagination to run wild as you experience the unique hand-made ambience of the house. Be transported to Gaudi’s Barcelona as you gaze into our murals. Take a short stroll to our magical town to connect with local artisans, or simply let yourself relax and unwind in our beautiful home.
The clever use of hand-picked salvaged materials also adds to the uniqueness of the space. Cobhearthome even contains the doors from the old Maleny Community Centre and timber from Brisbane’s Brett’s Wharf! Fun fact: Cob is an ancient building technique which has been used since prehistoric times. Come and stay in our modern cob home and experience a time honoured building technique first hand.
At Cobhearthome, guests can choose between organic cotton and wool, gel memory foam or traditional pillows to ensure the perfect night's sleep atop of our luxurious, pocket spring, pillow top mattresses. Comfortable high quality linen is also provided. A private bathroom comes with soft bath towels and luxurious all natural body wash, shampoo and conditioner. The bathroom contains a walk-in shower and a bath to suit all tastes.
The guest accommodation at Cobhearthome contains two queen rooms, a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, a lounge area with a flat-screen TV with DVD player, and reverse cycle air-conditioning. Cobhearthome provides premium tea and coffee, a glass kettle and pure filtered water from our locally made pottery water filter. We also house a swap/share library and a range of traditional board games. The guest suite at Cobhearthome is fully self-contained. Cobhearthome also provides both indoor and outdoor dining areas with an elevated leafy outlook towards the Obi Obi Creek. At 450m above sea level, guests can either relax near the log fire place in the winter or enjoy the cool mountain air in summer.
Romantic couple’s hampers are available on request including local cheese and wine. We also offer fresh organic raw honey from our own busy bees (hives located on another property in Maleny) and fresh free range pasture raised eggs from our happy hens (also located on another property in Maleny). Current pricing provided with all booking confirmations.
Complimentary treats are also provided such as all-natural homemade cookies. Guests can also make use of our extensive edible garden whilst saying hello to our wide range of native birds who visit the property.
Cobhearthome is situated in the heart of Maleny within walking distance to the Maleny town centre, Maleny Showgrounds and the Obi Obi Creek. We are also just a short drive to popular attractions such as Gardner’s Falls, Maleny Wines, Maleny Cheese Factory, Maleny Dairies, Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve and Maleny Botanic Gardens.
Within five minutes there are a wide range of restaurants, coffee shops, art and antique shops. The Maleny area is home to numerous National Parks offering a huge choice of walking trails. There is also a stunning 18-hole golf course in Maleny for golfing enthusiasts. The famous Australia Zoo and the amazing Glasshouse Mountains are also less than a twenty minute drive away. For those who wish to travel further afield, we are only 30 minutes from the Sunshine Coast beaches, a similar distance to the world famous markets at Eumundi and Noosa is less than one hour away.
Guest access
Guests have access to the entire property including the outdoor areas and edible garden.
Parking is provided on our gravel driveway which can accommodate up to two vehicles. Please do not park on the street or obstruct neighbouring properties.
Other things to note
Early check-in can sometimes be accommodated if we have not had a booking the night before so please feel free to ask.
**Firewood can be supplied at cost price from our local IGA if ordered at least 2 days prior to check-in. Otherwise, firewood can be purchased during your stay from IGA Maleny. We prefer to use this system to keep our nightly rates low for those guests who do not utilise the fireplace. Firewood is approx. $20 per bag + $18 for a bag of kindling which should last approx. 2 nights**
