Visit Atlantium... the smallest country in Australia!
Atlantium is located on a 0.76 square kilometre pastoral estate in the scenic Lachlan River valley, about midway between Crookwell and Cowra.
The space
The Empire of Atlantium is the only country you can drive to from Australia.
Atlantium was founded in Sydney in 1981 by a trio of teenagers, and has since grown into a global civil society organisation and micronation with thousands of citizens in over a hundred countries.
We acquired a 200 acre pastoral estate near Reids Flat, NSW, in 2008, and have been developing it ever since as our ceremonial capital.
We have our own government house (the Golden House), post office, pyramid and an assortment of other monuments and buildings.
Our borders are now open to visitors from Australia and beyond.
Guest access
Atlantium is entirely independent of the Australian power, gas and water grids; Government House is equipped with a gas fridge and BBQ facilities, solar-powered lighting and a solar-powered induction cooktop, microwave, toaster, music system, television and reverse-cycle air conditioning. The bathroom includes a waterless composting toilet. An outdoor shower is also available.
Atlantium now enjoys a super-fast Starlink satellite internet service.
In addition to enjoying the amenities of Government House, guests have full access to the 0.76 sq kilometres (200 acres) of natural bushland that lies within Atlantium's borders.
They may enjoy hiking, bird-watching, mountain bike riding, picnicking or swimming in our unspoilt forests, fields and lakes, whilst taking in often breathtaking views of the surrounding Australian countryside.
They can also visit the only pyramid in Australia, along with several other commemorative monuments.
Official Atlantium souvenirs, such as stamps, coins, banknotes, postcards and flags can all be purchased from the post office.
Other things to note
Atlantium is located in an isolated rural location, at the end of a 100 metre-long rough dirt and gravel driveway, and is surrounded by untamed grasslands and forests that are filled with all sorts of wildlife - including insects, spiders, snakes, lizards, birds and marsupials.
Temperatures can be very hot at the height of summer - and winter can be cold enough to very occasionally snow. While Government House does now enjoy reverse cycle air conditioning, you may wish to reconsider visiting if you find outdoor temperature extremes to be a problem.
Electronic devices can be charged via a USB charger attached to our solar power system. Visitors will need to bring their own USB charger for anything other than Android devices.
Accommodation at Atlantium is in a modest 10 x 3m one-room cabin. Facilities are comfortable and well-appointed, with all furnishings and appliances throughout new, and of a high standard.
These include hot and cold running water, solar lights, an electric fridge/freezer, a two-hob induction cooktop, an indoor shower and a composting toilet. There is a television with access to streaming media services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime and Stan. A high-speed Starlink satellite internet service is available, and voice-over-wi-fi calls can be made with a compatible Telstra handset when logged into our wi-fi network.
In between visits by paying guests Atlantium is frequently occupied by the owner and their family, so bedding is regularly changed and cleaned. If for some reason guests find their bedding unsatisfactory, they are more than welcome to change the sheets themselves - a supply of clean linen is kept in the closet, in a clearly marked box. Likewise, clean towels for the use of guests are kept in the chest of drawers.
