Gulls Perch is a Poldark-Era Fishermans Cottage near the harbour in Portloe - an unspoilt picturesque fishing village.
It was originally built as two cottages c1795. With low beams downstairs and a new log burner....we have retained the original features of the cottage, but given a contemporary twist featuring a modern shower room with rain forest shower & a new cottage style kitchen. The cottage is warm and cosy with modern electric radiators.

Other things to note
OUR COTTAGE was built in approximately 1795 - that is part of its unique charm. People of that era were shorter than today, so the beamed ceilings downstairs are low.

Please note: There are NO safety precautions or facilities for very small children ie stair gate or cupboard locks. We do not have a cot or high chair. Probably not suitable for those under 5.

We love dogs and offer dog sitting should you wish to go out and leave your pets indoors. £15 per hour, maximum 5 hours.
We can also pick you up from Truro or St Austell Station (£40 each way) or Newquay Airport (£50 each way). Please check with us first for availability.

ESCAPE TO PORTLOE
Gulls Perch is close to the harbour in the picturesque village of Portloe.
Portloe is still a working fishing village with boats going out daily to catch crab and lobster. With beautiful cottages, The Ship Inn traditional pub and The Lugger Hotel it’s easy to see why many call this the gem of The Roseland.
Sir John Betjeman described Portloe as “One of the least spoiled and most impressive of Cornish fishing villages”.
Portloe has been featured in many films and TV productions: The Camomile Lawn, The Wild Wild West (with Dawn French) and most recently German TV were filming a Rosamunde Pilcher novel here.
Portloe is a great base to explore The Roseland and indeed the whole of Cornwall. Our nearest villages are Portscatho & St.Mawes and our local dog-friendly beach is Carne & Pendower, just minutes away.
There are many excellent pubs and restaurants nearby. These include Idle Rocks and Hotel Tresanton in St Mawes, and Michelin Star Driftwood at Rosevine. We are also 20 minutes away from world famous ‘Hidden Hut’.
Padstow, Port Isaac, Mevagissey, The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan are all reachable within an hour. Truro, Cornwall’s only city is 25 minutes away.
Portloe is also a great base should you wish to walk the South West Coastal Path.

Together with my partner we have extensive experience in the travel/hospitality industry over many years and of living & working in London & Brighton. Having moved to Portloe - this amazing Cornish coastal fishing village, 3 years ago - the opportunity came about in early 2018 to buy Gulls Perch. After extensive renovations which kept the historical features but added contemporary 'necessities', we took our first guests in October 2018. As we live in Portloe, we maintain Gulls Perch ourselves to keep to a high standard. Portloe is a unique village unspoilt by modern development, and still boasts two working fishing boats in our small harbour, catching crab and lobster. We are available to offer advice on local attractions and on the local restaurants. Portloe is a peaceful village without hoards of tourists, and we welcome you to our 'special place'.

During your stay
WE LIVE IN PORTLOE, and are available as required by our guests. We are happy to offer advice on restaurants, sightseeing or anything else. We will usually be around should there be any problems that need resolving. We manage the property ourselves, rather than use a letting company.....this way we can put things right immediately and do any ‘touch ups’ after each visit.
