Whether you’re searching for a secluded writer's retreat or a place to explore miles of National Monument property, you'll easily fall in love with this high Chihuahuan Desert experience.

The space
Our casita (and our casa grande next door) is designed and decorated to reflect the traditional southwestern style of living. When entering our casita, you will find post, beam and viga construction, a custom-made bed made of reclaimed old-growth cedar, handmade Saltillo and Talavera tile flooring, and a fireplace built of stone collected from our 11-acre property. For you horse lovers, we have stables and an arena available for your use (extra cost). Whether you are hiking on foot or horseback riding, we have several trails less than 10 minutes drive from us that head up into the Organ Mountain-Desert Peaks National Monument. Up there you can find caves, waterfalls, and a variety of flora and fauna. Or, if you are really adventurous, you can just walk through our small vineyard and step out the back gate to be enveloped in thousands of acres of National Monument high-desert.

Elaine and I are from the US and love to explore different cultures and ways of living. We are not typical tourists, preferring to make friends and collect experiences instead of "seeing the sights". We've stumbled all around Europe including a 500 mile backpacking trip across northern Spain on the Camino de Santiago. Let us apologize in advance for making last-minute reservations, this is just how we do it, taking each day as it comes and keeping our plans to a minimum. We, along with our German Shepard, Allia, currently live on a ranch in Southern New Mexico where we rent our authentic-looking casita to other adventurers.
