House rules
This place isn’t suitable for children under 12 and the host doesn’t allow pets, parties, or smoking.
La Mortilla, a 4 rooms B&B, is a place for people looking for silence, far from everything. The property is surrounded by 3 hectars land cultivated with olive trees, almond trees, pistachio trees and vineyard. The old house, in stones, is built on the edge of a 400 mt above the sea level hill, dominating the river Platani valley, the coast from Siculiana to Sciacca and the mountains of Caltabellotta and Raffadali. The building is eco friendly with all the comforts to make the stay unforgettable.

The space
The Room "La Luna" (The moon in english) is a bright 14 square metres room on the second floor of the building, accessible from the external stair, with a huge window overlooking the internal courtyard, the olive grove and in the background the pool. The queen size bed can be eventually devided in two single beds.
It is decorated with paintings on the walls belonged to our families since a long time and with design furnitures from Italy and north Europe, which give a good feeling of modern and warm at the same time.
The bathroom is private with a comfortable 120x80 cm shower.
We implemented all the actions to prevent our guests from the Covid - 19 epidemic, including cleanings done by using specific products and rules to keep the distance between people. Btw the the property surrounding the main house is 5 hectares wide, with all the facilities to allow our guests to stay far meters from other people.

Guest access
The guests have full access to all the shared areas. Moreover they have free access to the pool.

The pool is 70 mt far from the house and it is surrounded by olive trees and palms on three sides.

The fourth side is a limitless cascade side with a stunning view on the coast, the valley and the mountains.

The pool is 12mt long and 6 mt wide, so swimming is allowed.

The pool has it's own bathroom, the "open air" shower with hot water produced by solar panel and a wide shadowed area to rest during the hottest hours of the day.

Other things to note
As a consequence of the hosting philosophy we are thinking to follow, the ones wishing to stay for a light lunch or for dinner will be welcome for an extra fee to exchange feelings, experiences and friendship around the big tables in the house or in the external kitchen. Of course that means there is not a menu "a la carte" and that guests will eat what is prepared for "the family".

Location

Cattolica Eraclea, Italy

La Mortilla is located in the middle of a huge area full of natural and monumental/historical sites among the most beautiful and interesting of the whole Sicily.

In half an hour driving you can be in the Valle dei Templi di Agrigento, a UNESCO world heritage, with some of the better preserved greek temple of the world built on the edge of a cliff dominating the valley and, on the background, the sea. And on the way to the temples, you can have a stop at "Scala dei Turchi", a bright white cliff diving in a crystalline sea.

In 20 km you can be in the archelogical area of Eraclea Minoa, with a very interesting museum and the greek theatre built on the edge of Capo Bianco a white headland dividing the two beaches of Minoa and Foce del Fiume Platani (a natural preseved area with an 8km golden sand beach between the river and the sea)

In 30 km you can then be in Caltabellotta, a small village built on the edge of a jagged mountain which reminds some parts of the Dolomites, where the Normans left some of the most interesting and well preserved monuments of the whole Sicily.

In 40 minutes driving, you che reach Sciacca, with its original urban topography made in parallel streets stepping down to the port and the sea. Getting lost in the narrow streets between the arab and the Barocco's buildings, taking a look to the handmade pottery shops is an unmissable experience.

An then a little bit further but by the way reachable in a one day tour from La Mortilla, Selinunte, the huger archelogiacl area of Europe, Unesco World Heritage as well, Naro with its sumptuous Barocco's Churches, Segesta, with the greek theatre built on the edge of a mountain witha limitless view on the valleys and the sea in the background and much more to see and visit.

The coast from Agrigento to Sciacca is possibly one of the most beautiful and pristine of the entire Mediterranean Sea. In half an hour driving you can reach the beaches of Riserva di Torre Salsa, the mentioned Scala dei Turchi, Giallonardo, Foce del Fiume Platani and, if you are looking for something more equipped, the beaches of Bovo Marina and Eraclea Minoa.

Our wish is to give to the guests deciding to stay at La Mortilla the feeling of being hosted in a private house and in a familiar friendly environment. That's the reason why all the shared areas are freely accessible by our guests. Cooking is not allowed even if our guests can remain with us for dinner for an extra fee. The idea is to share feelings, experience and friendship in an informal, familiar contest.
