Recently refurbished to provide accommodation for 6, this tranquil, spacious Victorian house has picturesque countryside views across Uplyme village and an easy river walk down to Lyme Regis and the Jurassic Coast. There is one double en-suite, one king size en-suite and a family room with separate bathroom. There is off-road parking available for two cars and a large garden where we are often gardening. We are relaxed hosts, live next door and are here to help as required.

The space
Our house was built in the 1860's and sits within a large, secluded garden very close to the centre of Uplyme with beautiful countryside views. It provides a wonderfully relaxing central base from which to explore the beautiful West Dorset and East Devon Countryside. Plus the beaches of Lyme Regis.

Where you’ll be

Uplyme, England, United Kingdom

The centre of Uplyme village is within a few minutes walking distance as is a friendly, traditional pub, The Talbot Arms, which offers delicious lunches and evening meals in a socially distanced environment. There’s also a village shop stocked with a wide range of local produce at Uplyme garage and a quintessentially English cricket ground.

A very easy visit is to the River Cottage Canteen in neighbouring Axminster for coffee, cake, lunch or dinner. Otherwise plan to experience River Cottage HQ and its famous cookery school, which is 1.6 miles from us. You can take a delightful walk through Trinity Woods that will get you there in under an hour for your course or dining experience.

Following the beautiful River Lym down to the sea, within 30 minutes you can be in Lyme Regis; enjoying the town’s eclectic mix of shops, cafes and restaurants; be standing on the wall of the beautiful, serpentine ancient harbour, The Cobb; relaxing on the beaches; discovering the shoreline, renowned for its incredible fossils; or taking circular walks amongst the surrounding countryside’s rolling hills and vales.

Lyme Regis is a magical small town with a big name, famous for its role in the birth of the earth sciences and home to the remarkable and pioneering nineteenth century fossil hunter Mary Anning. On the beaches to east and west of the town, you can discover and collect fossils of marine creatures and reptiles that swam in the Jurassic Sea’s 180 million years ago. To make the most of this, it’s best to book a guided fossil walk from Lyme Regis Museum and plan a visit to Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre.

I'm in my 60’s and I try to live life to the full working part time in the Renewable Energy Sector but spending most of my free time rowing Cornish Pilot Gigs and coaching juniors the techniques of Skiff rowing. I have a wonderful husband, three adult children and two gorgeous grandsons. I also love sailing, walking and watching movies. I have lived in Lyme/Uplyme for 31 years and would love to share my knowledge so that you have THE BEST of times.
