Welcome to Millies, a charming, cosy miner’s cottage in the historic town of Derby.

In 1874 George Renison Bell discovered tin and miners flocked to the valley. In 1876 the ‘Brothers Mine’ which was named after the Krushka brothers, was opened. The settlement that grew up around the mine became known as ‘Brothers Home’ and that name persisted until in 1887 it was decided to change the name to Derby. Come and visit the world class mountain biking trail network of Derby!

The space
Millie’s is an historic character cottage built in 1901.
The two bedroom cottage includes a queen size bed and the second bedroom has a king single bed. All beds and mattresses are new and super comfy! All bed linen and towels are provided. The cottage is full of character with a mix of antique and contemporary furniture.
There is a new large lockable bike shed for secure bike storage and there’s a track pump and a few tools in the shed!

Enjoy the beautiful wood fire if it’s chilly, or sit out on the classic front verandah and take in the view of the Derby MTB trail head, only 200 metres away.
Walking distance to everything on offer in Derby.

Other things to note
There’s a small general store in town (now under new ownership and open 10am-5pm everyday) with local gourmet food products, as well as some general supermarket items including fresh fruit/veg, bread, milk etc. although we recommend to bring all your supplies & food with you. There is a small IGA supermarket in the nearby town of Branxholm (10 min drive) and a full supermarket in Scottsdale (25 min drive). Take extra care on the roads as there’s lots of wildlife around so it’s best to avoid driving at dusk, dawn & night time.
For bike shuttle and bike hire in Derby, we recommend Buck, Jude and the team at Vertigo MTB. Highly recommend you get online & book that at the same time you book your trip to avoid disappointment of missing out!
Parking is available on the street directly at the front gate of Millies.

It’s a special feeling driving along the Main Street of Derby. A pure mountain bike village! Bike racks are everywhere and the free bike wash area is fantastic with enough pressure to clean the muddiest of bikes.
Then there’s the enchanting forest of the Blue Tier Forest Reserve- it really is as good as photos you’ve seen in magazines.

Derby is only a one hour scenic drive to the Bay of Fires via the coastal hamlet of St Helens which now has the new Mtb park built by the same trail builders as Derby.

Activities (other than MTB) available include:
Public tennis court and kids playground
Fishing and swimming in the Ringarooma River and Briseis Hole (licence required for trout
Keep your eye out for the resident platypus!
Lots of trail walks in the area
Little Rivers Brewery located in Scottsdale
Barnbougle Dunes and The Lost Farm for golf (at Bridport, a 45min drive)
