Stay inside a beagle-shaped building with comfort and a unique style. Cozy up with selections from our library of books, games & puzzles many of which are dog themed. Light snacking foods and in-the-dog breakfast is included. Wi-Fi if needed.

The space

Stay in a giant dog! That's right, it's a beagle-shaped one-unit inn where being in this doghouse is a GOOD thing and comfortable to boot!
Located at the edge of Cottonwood in rural Idaho, expansive views of prairie grain fields and surrounding mountains are specatcular at any time of year. From the second story deck on clear nights the starry sky garden is equally impressive.
The famed Hells Canyon Gorge of the Snake River is nearby inviting visitors to explore it via jet boat tours spring through fall. Or explore Nez Perce native history and culture at interpretive sites and towns nearby.
Browse the adjacent Dog Bark Park visitor center, gift shop and artist studio where owners Dennis & Frances fashion canine carvings by chainsaw.

Response from Frances & Dennis:
We enjoy sharing information about our town, the area & its offerings for varied interests of our visitors. Simple paper maps often are the easiest way for way finding.

Frances and Dennis are instantly the most likable people you could ever meet. It's less like you are arriving at a B&B, but staying with friends. The home is as it states - a giant dog. Dogs are definitely the theme. After youve wandered around and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)d your selfie next to the giant dog home; the home has a cosy atmosphere. For me, the perfect part was waking up to the sun rise over the Idaho farm fields. And when I say wake up, it's a view from your bed as you sit up. Practicalities; this may not be for you if you want a night out. There is a great Mexican restaurant called Palenques, 15 miles up the road which does great portions and flavors, but this isn't a place with huge catering choices. Even so, what you have in the way of scenery, baked snacks from Frances, is really the whole point. In summary this is beautiful part of the world where you can meet and talk with the most interesting couple (the hosts) I've met in a long time. Buy a carved dog or simply admire Dennis' passion of dog carving.

I took my 11 yr old daughter here and she had a wonderful time. Frances and Dennis are the nicest people that you could ever meet and they take great care of their guests. They offered plenty of suggestions for things that we could do during our stay, and there is an abundance of books and games to plan in the room. Staying in the 'Big Dog' is a unique experience, and my daughter absolutely loved having the loft to herself. The breakfast was delicious with lots of personally prepared foods and local fruits and vegetables.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Dog Bark Park. Not only is it a fun building to look at, it's actually quite comfortable. It is clear that great care is taken to ensure a positive experience, from the tasty treats to the fun decor and helpful information. Our two daughters could not stop talking about how much they loved being there. It is truly a special place!

Dog Bark Park is simply a wonderful, magical place! Our children had been looking forward to staying in the "dog house" for weeks and it lived up to the expectations. We all slept soundly - the little ones in the head of the dog and the adults in the comfy bed. The accommodations are surprisingly more roomy than I had thought they would be! We thoroughly enjoyed playing games inside and outside, chatting with Dennis and Frances and relaxing in the peaceful environment. Frances left us a lovely selection of food for snacks and breakfast. Everything was perfect. It's worth the drive to stay here!

I really enjoyed meeting Frances and Dennis and having the opportunity to stay in such a creative and fun space! They provided us with tasty snacks and breakfast items. My husband and I were able to do yoga together in the room! We found the WiFi to be persnickety which was mostly an issue for my son. Great views from the big dog, fun books and games inside. Large bathroom. There is a queen sized bed in the main room and two fold out mattress pads in the loft. We struggled with the traffic noise as this cool place sits between two main roads. The window air unit drowns out much but not all traffic noise. My heavier sleeping husband had no issues with traffic noise. Light sleepers may struggle. Overall a joyful fun thing to do.

Response from Frances & Dennis:
Yes, we admit our WiFi, being country WiFi, is not always reliable; we're working on a solution yet it may take some time. Good reception can be accessed from the area around our main office building which we inform everyone about when they arrive. Unfortunately we cannot do anything about the highway noise. Traffic (maybe no more than a few hundred vehicles per day) is much reduced in volume at night yet for light sleepers having a fan on is usually sufficient per most guests. We have a very plush mattress topper on the queen bed, which for many we're told is highly conducive for good deep sleep.
