The space

I am from near Bangkok. Many years ago I fell in love with the Mae Rim area. I bought the land in this special spot and designed this house from my heart. I built it with my family and I am happy to share it with others. When you stay I want you to feel it is your home. Outside of the house is a surrounding tropical garden and a swimming pool. Large opening glass panel windows form two of the walls downstairs. The split-level downstairs is all white (ceramic floor, walls and furniture). The two bathrooms and kitchen are finished with colorful tiles in artistic patterns. Upstairs is spacious with two bedroom areas and a small balcony offers glimpses of the distant mountains. All of the bedrooms have new air conditioning. The living room has fans. I or my friend Khun Jak are available if you need something. Just call me or Khun Jak who lives nearby.

Interaction with guests

You will enjoy complete privacy and the have my place to yourself. My friend Khun Jak or I am available if you need something. Just call me or Khun Jak or message me through airbnb.

Other things to note

Thai massage available at the house. A nearby air-conditioned van/car service is available for hire anytime to take your group anywhere. Most guests use this service for airport pickup, trips into the Old City and half or whole day trips around the Chiang Mai area. The prices are very inexpensive and reasonable for such a service. I have relationships with many of the best attractions and activities in the Chiang Mai area (like Elephant Camps; Zipline; Tiger Kingdom; Longneck Hilltribe Village; Traditional Thai Dance and Dinner Show; etc). I can make reservations for your group for any of these and in some cases I can arrange free transportation. Please feel free to ask me for any other information you may need. Please read many of the reviews for my house to learn more about my house and how much guests have enjoyed it. The comfort and enjoyment of my guests is always my top priority.

My family of eight stayed in this house for a week in October totally enjoyed not only the house itself but we loved the area. The local people are so warm and easy going, the local corner shop owner kept saying, Welcome to Mae rim whenever I went over to buy little things. It's a safe place to have your family and if you like to get closer to the local way of life, this is the place to be. Must check out the local cafes too. What can I say about the host and her team? the house manager who went everywhere with us making sure we are well looked after and the van driver who was always ten minuets early waiting for us and the house lady who brought us anything we needed for the house with huge smile..they were superb and really warm and accommodating people. We took the host's advice and hired the van and the driver for the entire trip and that was the best thing we did. It reduced the stress of getting around Chiangmai and very economical. Take it from me, I am a very budget conscious traveller but the van service is a very good economical choice for a group more than eight people. The house manager Khun Jak is a kind and gentle man who would do anything to help our trip enjoyable and relaxing. He went out of his way to help us with whatever we needed. He really exemplifies the Thais in general in very good way. Plus Ravinan went out of her way to meet my wish list, organising a professional photographer to take lots of family photos to remember for the rest of our lives. This has been a family holiday to remember for a long time thanks to the host and her team. I already miss Chiangmai, I will definitely be back for another holiday.

Ravinans' place is clean, quiet and well set up. There's a short walk to the main road for buses and markets, and there's no arguing with the convenience and local knowledge of Khun Jak and his van man :-)

Frangipani House is a secluded piece of paradise around 15minutes out of Chiang Mai city. The house is wonderful and exactly as described. The gardens are just so magical and worth mentioning as it has its own little rainforest with birds, tropical plants, frogs and fish pond. So special. The pool is such a delight and much needed after long hot Thailand days. Khun Jak was so patient with us as we navigated our way through our holiday. He helped us with travel, tours, airport and even helped us resolve our damaged luggage from the airport. Ravinan was always there online to answer any questions and was a brilliant host throughout. The house was stocked with snacks and drinks on arrival and had all the information on hand to explore the local area. Some of the local highlights for us was the Mae Rim plaza night market, Mae Sae water falls and Sala cafe which is a bike ride away. Mae Rim is a really safe and friendly area to explore. Although a bit out of the city transport is very easy to arrange. Thank you Khun Jak and Ravinan. You really are super hosts and are the reason I continue to use Air BnB!

Ravinan was away during our stay but she kept us informed and her property manager was a very friendly and helpful person. A bit cold but we still used the pool. Quiet location and easy walk to shops and a great range of wonderful restaurants. We used the services of the recommended driver and van. Excellent driver and great value. Wish we had realized we could have used him to ferry us to and from Chiangmai before booking another service. We were staying with our three adult children and we all had a fantastic time.

Ravinan responded very promptly to our emails before and during our stay, answering all our questions and providing heaps of information about the neighbourhood, including things to do, places to visit, restaurants in the area and details and costs of the van service provided. Although she was overseas during our visit, she provided great support via email and her helper Khun Jac who lived close by. We were provided with a local mobile phone on which he could be contacted whenever needed. He was very reliable and polite and always available. We did make use of the van service initially, but then hired a car through a local company for the remainder of our holiday. He helped us translate whilst trying to book via phone which was very usefull! We loved staying in the light filled house with its floor to ceiling windows overlooking the very beautiful private tropical gardens and swimming in the gorgeous pool after a day out sightseeing in the heat. Mae Rim had many areas to explore including magnificent waterfalls, gardens and a beautiful white temple behind the house in lovely gardens. Khun Jac arranged for us to meet one of the English speaking monks which was really interesting and also drove us to a local market and to a supermarket to buy groceries. Prior to arriving, we booked the "Care for Elephants" day program at the Elephant Nature Park which was one of the highlights of our visit, and arranged to be picked up close by the house at the orchid and butterfly farm. Khun Jac kindly dropped us off and picked us up there. Ravinan also arranged for us to give an offering to the monks in the early morning walk past our house. Khun Jac met us with the housemaid who brought the offerings. We also walked to the elephant poo poo paper place, local markets and an orchid farm and local country cafes which were all interesting. Not only did we enjoy the Mae Rim area, we also loved our time "being" in the house playing many games of cards with our daughter with whom we had come to visit during her travels. It was such a pleasant white light filled space with such a beautiful outlook. If I was visiting again for a long period, I would book the car beforehand as it was difficult to arrange at the last minute with the language barrier and availability. We needed the car as we were travelling on to Pai for a week (the upgraded road is now excellent and easy enough if you are used to driving on very windy roads) and the local traffic was no more difficult than in Australia, however we found it difficult using the GPS, so the van service is an excellent option to save the frustration of finding your own way around! So glad we were in Mae Rim for 9 days instead of Chiang Mai! Loved our stay and would definitely recommend!

Ravinan was so helpful and so responsive throughout the whole booking process, I think it would be hard to find a more helpful host! The house is beautiful and in a very peaceful and beautiful village near a number of popular attractions. We really enjoyed walking around to different coffee / breakfast places in the morning and then to the village for dinner each night. The house worked well for us because we had 3 groups and there are 3 separate / private bedrooms. The 3rd upstairs bedroom is more for a group because it is a big open area with two double beds and some mats (would be great for kids). The setting is gorgeous, it feels like you're sitting in a rainforest!

We had a wonderful time staying in Mae Rim at Ravinans house. Ravinan was extremely accommodating - always answering my queries quickly and helping me every step along the way. Including organising transport to and from the house. There was even water, toiletries and fruit when we arrived. It didn't feel like staying in someone's house, rather like staying in a hotel. Ravinans house is very well located, near a beautiful temple, the shops and a market. There's no need to travel outside of the area, but that would be a shame as there is so much to do in chiang mai. We had an amazing time in Mae Rim, thank you Ravinan, her sweet nephew Fang and her brother Noo for making our stay so wonderful.
