It was a wonderful old mansion, damaged and deserted. We found her and set about restoring her to her former glory. She is an amazing home, perfect for a large family holiday. Definitely a grand lady

Sri Lanka is a very modest country. We expect our guests to be attired at all times, swimming costumes and bikinis are fine, but topless if really not acceptable. Loud noise and reckless consumption of alcohol is not acceptable, but parties are embraced by our staff. General manners are expected.
Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the villa. There are smoke alarms that will be set off if smoke is detected.

Spectacular place to stay in Hikkaduwa. I would recommend this to anyone, families or groups of friends. We loved the food and the facilities including the big pool. Suzanne was extremely helpful before our trip, along with Udith (manager) and Jaia (driver) while we were in Sri Lanka. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff who were there to provide us with whatever we needed. Thank you very much for our very relaxing stay!

What a lovely place Six Degrees North is - enhanced by warm, generous and accommodating staff (special mention must be made for Rashan, Inoka, the executive chef and the maintenance man) led by Udith, who is a capable, knowledgeable and decisive property manager. We stayed here in late July with extended family and two small children (2 and 4 years old) and the few days stay here was a welcome break from our hectic itinerary and gave us a chance to revitalize. The few minor issues that we had (eg. broken kettle and microwave, very slow internet connection) were promptly considered and addressed, where possible. It is worth noting that the pool is not fenced, so be mindful of this if you are staying with small kids who are little explorers. Also, the house has a divided spaces for meals (separated by wooden screen doors) with another two of Suzanne’s holiday villas and all three properties are serviced by the same staff. So, our breakfast was served above the meals area of the property next door which, in turn, bordered our own garden and pool area. There were the odd times that the people who were staying in the property next door accessed their property through our garden or went to the beach through our garden/pool area. This did mean that it didn’t have the sense of a traditional stand-alone property and perhaps didn’t offer the level of seclusion and privacy that we were initially looking for. Having said that though, it didn’t impede our stay significantly and staff were proactive about trying to manage the different groups well. We ordered food from the menu for our kids every day for dinner and they were crowd pleasing simple pasta dishes, which always went down well. On our last night we decided to order the seafood BBQ coupled with some Sri Lankan dishes to satisfy the diversity of needs in our group. The dinner was beautifully set up on the lawn near the pool with lights and buffet tables. My Dad, who was looking for spicy food was initially disappointed with the Sri Lankan meal offerings (which weren’t hot enough for him) and he provided this feedback to Udith. This was obviously communicated to the kitchen staff because, a little later, the executive chef sent out a magnificent devilled prawn dish for my Dad, which he said was delicious and hot! This was one of the many examples of the responsiveness and accommodating nature of the staff. I would recommend this place to anyone, particularly families. It was a really great place for our family group (consisting of small children, in-laws and other relations) and gave us a place to connect, unwind and recharge. Thank you Suzanne and the team for looking after us. We hope that we will be back at some stage soon!

Great location as away from the crowds of Hikkadua but close enough for some wonderful nights in Galle. We swam in the sea all day, ate our favourites ... bean curry, prawn curry and string hoppers at night. The boys played endless games of cricket with the Ambalangoda guys. The team looked after us and made our stay memorable. Thanks to all and a very happy 2017!

Suzanne's house is built for relaxation, from the staff, to the views, to the nearby towns and restaurants... would absolutely encourage people to stay here. Hope to do so ourselves, again sometime soon!

Very nice house with wonderful staff. Perfect for a family. The beach is for you but you have a lot of waves (WE had a lot of fun!). Not suitable for children but the pool is large.

We had the most wonderful time staying at Six Degrees North, the villa and garden itself is beautiful and the beach right on your doorstep was amazing. The host was very welcoming. Suzanne communicated everything necessary prior to our arrival to ensure a smooth arrival and they even let us have a late departure, which was greatly appreciated. Upon arrival and throughout our stay, all of the staff were very welcoming and made our stay at Six Degrees very enjoyable. In particular, the sunset BBQ that the staff organised was particularly memorable, the dedication from the staff to present such a special evening will not be forgotten. Thank you again. We hope to be back soon.

Response from Suzanne:
Thanks for the lovely review Abbie, it really was our pleasure to have you all stay. I was really happy to give you a late checkout, the flights from Colombo do sometimes leave at odd hours, so whenever possible we try to help our guests, particularly when they have children. Please do come back again. Have a really Merry Christmas and a Happy 2017 Best wishes Suzanne

A wonderful holiday was had. From start to finish the communication, information and thoughtfulness was exemplary. The location was heavenly the staff were the icing on the cake and the charm won our hearts. 8 women are never easy to please but nothing was too difficult or too much trouble and all done with beautiful smiles. I would like to thank Suzanne for being an amazing host and look forward to visiting again. Thank you to the team and look forward to visiting 6 Degrees North again. Sally
