Sankt-Peterburg, Russia

The Admiralteysky District is one of the central districts and is bordered by the Moscow, Kirov, and Central districts. On the riverfront of the English and Admiralteiskoy pass the border with the Vasileostrovsky district. In his title Admiralteysky, the implication of the history of the Russian Navy is laid. On the territory of the district is the Admiralty building, the oldest in the country shipbuilding enterprise "Admiralty Shipyards", the St. Nicholas Epiphany Orthodox Maritime Council. In the names of a number of streets: Bolshaya and Malaya Morskaya, Galernaya, also the involvement of the district, its inhabitants and workers in the fleet is implied. It is no accident that a significant part of the festive events dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Russian Navy in the summer of 1996 took place on the territory of the Admiralteysky District. The Admiralteysky District is famous for its monuments of history and culture far beyond Russia. Here created their masterpieces by the architect O. Montferrand (St. Isaac's Cathedral, monument to Nicholas I), architect D.Kvarenga (Horse Guards Manege, now Central Exhibition Hall), architect K.Rossi (the building of the highest Senate and the Synod), architect E.Felten and sculptor E (Monument to Peter the Great "The Bronze Horseman", which became a plastic symbol of St. Petersburg), architect V.P. Stasov (Trinity Cathedral) and several others. Ensembles and individual monuments created by these creators are a decoration of the city. It is no mere chance that almost half of the district entered the protection zone of St. Petersburg. Admiralteysky District - the area of building the Petrine era. The first structure, largely affected by the fate of not only the district, but also the city, was the Admiralty, the laying of which took place at the end of 1704. The construction of the Admiralty House served as the impetus for the formation of the first squares - Dvortsovaya, Dekabristov and the streets of the district - Bolshaya Morskaya (Herzen Street), Pochtamtskaya, Malaya Morskaya (Gogolya Street) and others that emerged from the so-called sailors' settlements, as well as embankments on the section from the Admiralty Plant to the Admiralty. It is impossible to imagine the appearance of the area without monuments of monumental sculpture: the founder of the city Peter I; Glinka, Rimsky-Korsakrov, Mendeleev, Griboyedov, Lermontov. The necklace of sculpture monuments includes lions and vases on the Promenade des Anglais, the famous Sphinxes on the Egyptian bridge. In the Admiralty area lived and worked world-famous writers, poets: Dostoevsky, Blok, Pushkin, Griboedov, Gogol, Tolstoy, Greene, and others. ; artists: Benois, Alexander Benois, Serebryakov, Lansere, Vrubel, Dobuzhinsky, Somov; composers: Stravinsky, Soloviev-Sedoy; artists: Shalyapin, Istomina, Ulanova and others.
