Our cozy guest house is located along the Point Edward Highway, but don't let the name of our street discourage you from staying. It is a lovely, quiet, rural setting, along the shores of Sydney Harbour. Very centrally located between the city of Sydney and surrounding towns. The view is calming, and can be enjoyed on the covered front deck. Be sure to catch one of the stunning sunsets during your stay!

Wooded trails behind our property are open to guests, and are great for hiking with or without pets, mountain bikes, recreational vehicles or horses.

Other things to note
Pets are permitted, but please pick up after them.

Our beagle, Cookie, is super sweet to people but can be grumpy with other dogs - if you let us know what time you are arriving we can ensure she’s indoors or tied, to avoid any unnecessary drama.

We are on a well and septic system, so we ask guests to be mindful of that during their stay.

We are thrilled to announce WiFi & cable are now available in the guesthouse!!!! ~ there is also a DVD player (with some DVD's provided).

For guests staying two or more nights will be fresh fruit & granola bars.
For all guests there is tea & coffee available, as well as milk, cream and sugar provided.

*The sinks (kitchen & bathroom), tub and toilet are cleaned with Ajax, the glass surfaces are cleaned with Windex, and the floors are washed with Mr. Clean Lemon. Lysol wipes & Norwex cloths are used for the remainder of the surfaces & appliances.

**The linens & towels are washed with Purex and Borax or Baking Soda, and line dried (weather permitting) or put in the dryer with dryer balls & a bounce sheet.

***The shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand & dish soap, and optional bathroom air freshener are all scented.

*If you have sensitivities to any of the cleaning products please disclose that before your arrival. As for the personal hygiene products, you are encouraged to bring and use your preferred brands.

During the winter & spring we would ask that guests regulate the heat in the space using the thermostat, and avoid opening the windows. Heating the outdoors is not acceptable.

During the warmer weather we often have a dehumidifier running, to keep the dampness under control. We ask that you turn it off if you prefer to have the windows open during your stay ~ otherwise it will be counter productive to run the device.

We ask that guests read the information binder upon arrival - most questions will be answered & expectations can be better managed.

My husband & I bought the property late August 2017, and were married in our yard in July, 2018. In the short time we've owned our home we have done a tremendous amount of work both inside and outside! The home was built in 1972, by the Rudderham's; where they raised their children, and eventually added a guest house to accommodate extended family members. Many years later, the home was mostly vacant, until we purchased it. We have a beagle named Cookie, and a horse named Bailey. Recently Charles & Skeeter joined our barn. After the wedding we fenced in the property, and converted the garage into a small stable. We love our little funny farm! Our guesthouse was first listed in June of 2018, and we weren't sure how busy it was going to be. We were pleasantly surprised at the number of guests we had, and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience, so far. I think Airbnb is a win for both the host and the guest. Small communities benefit from the added flow and it doesn't break the bank for guest accommodations. Since we have opened we have made some improvements to the space, and will continue to make them, to ensure our guests overall satisfaction. While we appreciate feedback, from our guests, we would like to remind you that the entire property needed a lot of work (time & money). The upgrades to the guesthouse happen as we can afford them. We did not build it. The windows don't allow for a portable air conditioner, and installing a $5000 heat pump in the first year of operation just wasn't an option. Some future improvements include, staining or painting the deck (still trying to decide which is the best option), replacing the sewer line & running a water line to the horses, and also replacing the roof (preferably with a metal one). A heat pump will eventually happen, but it will be a while. One of our favourite parts about living in Point Edward, aside from it being the ideal location for us, is the beautiful sunsets.
