Interior Designers family home in the heart of Erko, rated the best place to live in AU 2023. Spacious and relaxing retreat with separate living areas for your group. This lovingly curated space has been designed to highlight its period features with quality mid -century furniture throughout. The owners love of music is obvious with artwork featuring numerous icons adorning the walls. A truly individual space to stay.
The space
Enter into the large spacious lounge room featuring high ceilings and a stunning walnut herringbone floor. The main lounge area is the centre of the space and features a Zoureff 4 seater sofa and 2 armchairs. Ottomans are provided for your lounging comfort and have dual use as a side table and a piano stool.
The lounge incorporates a Samsung frame smart TV alongside a Sonos speaker for your convenience. There's also a record player and selection of vinyl available. We have a bookcase of reading options spanning a wide range of interests. There's a craft cupboard with plenty of boardgames if travelling with children.
The lounge room features a seperate reading nook under the stairs for those who like to hang solo and relax. A 1970's swivel chair is the perfect option for reading.
Walk down the long spacious hallway to the first bathroom and laundry.
The bathroom has dual rainfall showers for 2 and it's tapware is designed by the iconic British brand Perrin & Rowe. There's a toilet and vanity for your items.
Installed within the custom cabinetry is a Samsung smart washing machine and a dryer. There's also a clothes rack, iron and ironing board for your convenience. Eco friendly cleaning supplies are provided as standard.
Enter the full kitchen with high end appliances and everything you would need in a home from home; from spices to cooking equipment. A large copper sink and brass Perrin & Rowe tapware features. Miele appliances are included and there's a wine fridge for drinks and a large fridge with a freezer for your groceries. We are a no waste household, please don't be offended that we've left items for your use. It's entirely up to you if you'd like to use them or not.
Our dining area features classic design icons; there's a Grant Featherstone bench alongside Parker designed chairs with a long custom made table from local Australian redwood. This area can comfortably serve up to 8 guests.
There's a vintage German piano available if you are inclined. It's from the late 1800's so don't expect pitch perfect.
Industrial steel doors frame the outdoor space. There is a large outdoor deck with seating area. We also have 2 children's bikes, 2 adult bikes and 2 scooters available. Alongside football nets a basket ball hoop and a full size pool table.
Walk back through the hallway and living area and up the custom designed brass stair well to the first floor. There's skylights throughout which are rain activated.
The master room features a king bed with a firm mattress. A down doona and pillows are provided alongside luxury bamboo linen bedding for the perfect nights rest. There's an exposed brick chimney breast and custom teal cabinetry with brass fixtures for your belongings.
As this room is designed in the eaves, it's a particularly stunning space. It also has a Featherstone reading chair as a relaxing nook.
Ceiling fans feature in all bedrooms, the lounge and kitchen/dining area. We do not have air conditioning available.
Walk down the beautiful bright hall way featuring interesting artworks and rugs designed by local Indigenous artists.
The children's bedroom has custom wardrobes and cabinetry, a small desk and king single bunk beds which are pretty comfortable for adults too! Unfortunately we are unable to redesign this room as the occupant is quite particular about it's vibe. So if you like Minecraft you'll be grand. If not, we can close this room off if you prefer. There will be plenty of Lego, children's toys and books available.
The family bathroom is featured in between bedroom 2 & 3 and is bright and sunny throughout the day. It has encaustic traditional heritage tiles on the floor and modern high end bathroom fittings. There's a rainfall shower, a 2 man bath and a toilet. Towels and toiletries will be provided as part of your stay.
At the back of the property is bedroom 3 which also has a separate desk area. This room has a wall mounted TV. There's custom wardrobes for your belongings and a queen size bed.
All rooms have new Greywing memory foam mattresses which are medium- firm. Towels and quality linens are provided for all bedrooms.
We are a pet friendly property but they must be non shedding in their own baskets. We do not permit dog's on the furniture under any circumstances. If this is not adhered to, there will be further charges to ensure our furniture is cleaned appropriately.

Our son’s room (king single bunks) is very much an 8 year old boys room. As much as I’d like to takeover with some design magic, I am not allowed to. Please bear this in mind when booking!
Please be mindful of our neighbours and respect quiet hours between 9pm and 8 am.
Under the NSW STRA policy, we are strictly a no smoking, no party house. You are agreeing to these terms as part of your booking. Failure to respect or adhere to these terms will result in your eviction and cancellation of your booking.

Erskineville has so much going on within steps of our place;
Shenkin Israeli cafe has incredible healthy breakfasts and the best coffee 👌🏼
There are 2 local pubs - The Erko and the Rose. The Rose upstairs has Howard’s bistro serving awesome food.
Hive bar is the stop for cocktails and funk and soul DJ’s on a weekend
The famous Imperial hotel (Priscilla) newly renovated and voted Timeout’s best club 2017 is over the road. ‘Dine & Drag’ is the order of the day with 2 restaurants inside- Priscilla’s which is a raw LA menu and an Italian bistro upstairs.
There is a Woolworths less than a minute’s walk away and a local deli and grocer. If you want to venture out of Erko - 600 bars and restaurants are on your doorstep in Newtown and Enmore which is less than 10 minutes walk away.
The inner west really has something for everyone; cinemas, galleries, boutiques; live music and entertainment are all on our doorstep.
Our exact location is in the inner West ‘golden triangle’ with 3 train stations within minutes walk; Erko, Macdonaldtown and Newtown all direct to the CBD in 3 stops (10 minutes).
Whilst we can hear the birds singing in the trees there is also a train line running behind the house. Please bear this in mind we truly are in the Inner City!
