A 300 year old Spanish Colonial home with two air-conditioned double rooms, filled with artwork of local, recognized artists, a fantastic library, and other quirky bits and bobs I've collected along the way. Located on a quiet street in the historical neighborhood of Getsemaní, half a block from the historically important Plaza de la Trinidad and its bustling nightlife. Within walking distance of all the historic monuments and surrounded by loads of cool bars and restaurants. Great wifi, woo!!!

The space
This house is a great example of the Spanish Colonial architecture style and its Moorish origins imported from Spain 500 years ago. The floors are a traditional Arabic design as well, adding a dose of authenticity. It's decorated with everything from Spanish Colonial antiquity to modern and folkish art with a certain sense of "kitsch" aesthetics. The interior open-air patio filled with plants adds a nature touch to the space, and has a cool outdoor shower hidden among the plants that's one of the best features of the house and a refreshing bathing experience. The comfy beds in the air conditioned rooms make for some sound sleeping and great dreaming.

Guest access
The whole house and everything in it is at your disposable, including an adequate kitchen, a great sound system, television that has Netflix and many channels that can be accessed in English, and a pleasant library with fantastic Spanish/English literature which you are welcome to delve into and hang out in in a hammock.

Other things to note
The house definitely has a marked personality and a palpable energy due to its age, Getsemaní vibe and decorative artwork of renowned Cartagenero artists who are friends of mine, as well as the curious composition of my collection of objects.

Neighbourhood highlights

Getsemaní is one of the oldest neighborhoods in South America, and still reflects its Spanish colonial past and idiosyncrasies that make it a vintage Cartagenero "hood." There is loads to read about it online, so help yourselves. Forbes magazine has Getsemaní included in its list of the 12 "coolest" neighborhoods around the world (https://www.forbes.com/sites/annabel/2018/06/22/the-12-coolest-neighborhoods-around-the-world/#5493c3766eb1) It's almost like another small city inside the city. What once was a rather dangerous, crumbling neighborhood when I first moved in, is now one of the safest ones, so no worries.

Lives in Cartagena, Colombia
Originally from L.A., but have been living in Colombia since the 80s, and over 20 years in this house in Getsemani. Was in the neighborhood long before it became hip and touristy, and to a certain extent, I do miss the old Getsemani and its authentic oldschool, edgy hood scene. I basically fixed up this house from ruins and live here with my daughter. I help run one of the oldest schools in Cartagena. Am a bit of a film and theater freak, a wordsmith, and crap guitarist/singer. Cyclist and vegan I would also add. I support Manchester United as well. My family including children and grandchildren live in Cartagena. Cheers!
