Neighbourhood highlights

Nestled in the foothills of the Ovens Plains, the historic Village of Eldorado is an ideal location to escape the frustrations of city life. Situated only 22kms from Wangaratta, Eldorado is a short trip from the many attractions of Victoria's fabulous North East and makes an ideal stopover whilst touring the area.
The Reedy Creek that flows through the Woolshed Valley to Eldorado, was the source of mining that built the Eldorado Village supporting a century of shaft, sluice and dredge mining. Many historic relics are still preserved, including the immense gold dredge which was, during it's time of operation, the largest of it's kind in the Southern Hemisphere.
The Woolshed Valley itself contains some of the most picturesque country in Victoria, and anglers can enjoy seeking the wild trout which inhabit the upper reaches of the Reedy Creek, or gold panning and looking for gemstones.
From the soaring peaks of Victoria's highest mountains, to the fertile valleys and pristine rivers and lakes below, Eldorado remains an extremely interesting, beautiful and tranquil spot, a must to visit. Best of all, once you're here in Eldorado everything is just a relaxed drive, stroll or cycle away.

Lives in Eldorado, Australia
Our names are Peter and Judy and we moved to Eldorado in 2018 after being on a farm for eight years. Being relatively new to the area, we are both still learning about the history of Eldorado and the Woolshed Valley and also finding out about the many places of interest on offer to our visitors. Peter is an ex construction worker and is a very keen old car enthusiast. He enjoys taking his old Holden out for a spin or to the local car shows. Blacksmithing is another of his interests along with trying his luck metal detecting and gold panning in the Eldorado area. I enjoy patchwork and keep myself busy making quilts for family and friends.
