The space
Welcome to Kiwi Chalet, perfect for couples or singles and popular for honeymooners.
The chalet is nestled in the hillside, just above our family home, overlooking the vast mountains and farm land.
Only a 15 minute drive from Queenstown International Airport, 6 minutes drive to charming historic Arrowtown and 20 minutes to Queenstown! Kiwi Chalet is so close to everything, yet feels so secluded.
Equipped with kitchen, living, dining, Queen bedroom and ensuite on ground floor and a cosy spot in the loft, for playing cards or reading in the sunshine.
Queen bed is of medium/firm comfort with 100% cotton bedding. Plus an electric blanket to keep you nice and warm in the winter.
Kitchen has convection microwave oven, gas hob, range hood and mini fridge (no freezer).
Chalet contains a heat pump/air conditioning unit for warmth and cooling.
It has North facing floor to ceiling windows and sliders and offers the most epic views upstairs and down.
With dark clear nights it’s perfect for incredible stargazing and occasionally you can even see the Aurora Australis! ( Southern Lights )

SKIING:
Close to three of NZ's best ski fields.
Coronet Peak (25 minute drive)
Remarkables (40 minutes)
Cardrona (45 minutes)

BIKING:
With the Queenstown cycle trail right outside, you can enjoy a leisurely ride to newly established Ayrburn or Arrowtown for food/wine or try your luck at gold panning. If you're up for it, follow the trail to Queenstown or to the wineries of Gibbston valley. Come home to relax and soak up the views of Coronet Peak's night skiing, or head up there!
Bike hire: Arrowtown offers two bike hire companies, both with e-bike options.
-Better By Bike
-Arrowtown Bike Hire

GOLF:
Millbrook, Arrowtown Golf Course and The Hills - 5 minute drive.

Lake Hayes and the lake Hayes walkway are a short stroll away, where you can swim in the crystal clear waters or go for a decent walk around the lake. A great spot to take some beautiful scenic shots of the surrounding mountains.

Kiwi Chalet is truly a special spot in a special part of New Zealand. Come and see for yourself!

Guest access
Kiwi Chalet is located in a rural area and we advise guests to have their own vehicle. Taxis and ubers are available, but expensive and there is no direct bus or public transport to the Kiwi Chalet.
There is free unlimited parking onsite. In the winter months, ( May - October ) we advise hiring an AWD or 4WD vehicle. It's also compulsory to carry chains if you're planning to head up the ski fields. These can be rented from the car rental.
Threepwood is a lovely neighborhood for a walk. A short walk from the chalet will connect you to the Queenstown trail, from here you can access Lake Hayes walkway and any many more beautiful trails in the network.

Other things to note
Our family home is next to the chalet, ( 20 meters apart) so occasionally you may hear or see us. We do endeavor to give you as much privacy as possible during your stay.

We suggest you buy a few food supplies on route to the chalet. There is a range of large supermarkets, Countdown, Pack n Save and New World on route from the airport and a small supermarket six minutes drive away in Arrowtown.

All linen is provided, breakfast cereal, tea, coffee, body wash/hand soap/salt/pepper/oil.

Please note, some areas of the property are still being landscaped and therefore you might see gardeners out and about on the property.

My work: Artist, Airbnb host
A mother to two teenage boys and married to an exceptional man, We moved from the city in 2011, to a life in Otago to give our boys the lifestyle and opportunities this area has to offer. Fresh air, open space, green fields, plenty of extreme sports and sheep in the back yard!! My life is a balance of motherhood, yoga, enjoying the Arts and the outdoors. We ski, we tramp, we bike and with the natural, incredible beauty around us, we pause.
