Nestled into Doongalla Forest, surrounded by towering Mountain Ash and tree ferns situated just minutes’ walk to the local villages Olinda and Mt Dandenong cafes, restaurants, and artisan boutiques.
The perfect combination of seclusion and civilisation, close to everything, yet away from it all

The space
Enter your private cottage with enchanting story book style exterior and Australian country with a touch of Scandi chic interior.
The lovely large living area has a large sofa to sink into by the cosy log fire, where you can curl up to watch a movie, listen to music, read a book or gaze out the window into the forest and just BE.
There a dining area looking out onto the garden which can also be used as a workspace.
Adjoining is the cosy country style kitchen which is fully equipped with everything you need including a brand-new washing machine - dryer combo & dishwasher so you can stay for a few days, a week, or a month.
Upstairs the romantic Attic style bedroom has a queen size bed and beautiful forest balcony from which you can enjoy soaking in nature and tree top views with glimpses of Melbourne city lights, glorious sunsets, and star gaze at night through the telescope.
The adjoining bathroom has a large spa bath for 2.
Beautiful quality bed linen, bath robes and towels are provided for your stay.
At Wild Orchid Olinda we are passionate and diligent when it comes to hygiene and sanitation, we adhere to all current accommodation cleaning protocols as required by DHHS - NCC & state guidelines.

Situated in the Heart of the Dandenong Ranges the cottage is ideally located walking distance between the beautiful villages of Olinda and Mt Dandenong so you are close to everything, but away from it all.
Just a few minutes’ walk up the hill to Olinda Village featuring fabulous artisan boutiques, cafes, restaurants, antiques, book shop, chocolatier, Dudley’s restaurant for great pizza & live music on weekends.
The Dandenong Ranges Botanical Garden ~ National Rhododendron Gardens are just half a kilometre from your door and a must visit.
If you love gardens, I can highly recommend a visit to Cloudehill Nursery and Gardens and the Seasons Restaurant at Cloudehill has beautiful views over the gardens and delicious seasonal dishes. There is a lovely outdoor terrace.
A few minutes’ walk down the hill to Mt Dandenong village where you will find the best coffee in the ranges at Storehouse and famous Mt Dandenong Hotel great for a traditional Australian counter meal in front of the open fire and live music on weekends.
Kate Kelly’s Tavern for fabulous local beers on tap & our favourite local Providore’ The Deli Pantry for the best coffee, breakfast, lunch & all your grazing needs.
Pellegrino’s fresh fruit & veggie market have fresh meat and beautiful local produce is open 6 days & deliver.
Just wander a little further down the road for great beers on tap at The Pig & Whistle Tavern and if you’re hungry a menu must have The Piggy Parma!
The cottage is just under 2 kilometres from Mt Dandenong Observatory ~ Sky High lookout and restaurant for fabulous views over Melbourne and our favourite must visits, The William Ricketts Sanctuary and Olinda Falls.
Or you can simply enjoy the natural surroundings of the state forest,
Doongalla Forest walking tracks are accessible from your door.
We provide you with maps of the local villages, forest walks and hiking tracks.
From your forest balcony you may be fortunate enough to see wallabies, deer and lyre birds, kookaburras & rosella’s.
