Furry friends welcome

Bring your pets along for the stay.
Welcome to a unique Airbnb experience. Stay in one of our comfortable rooms in the 114 year old giant of a wooden church in the delightful town of Boonah. Close to a host of national parks, recreational dams, rock-climbing sites, wineries, cafes and hotels it is the perfect venue for active folk. Weddings are becoming popular in the area so use this as your base if you are on the guest list. The church is within walking distance of all the amenities Boonah has to offer.

The space
Enjoy the chance to soak up the ambience of this quality old wooden building with the ever changing light through the cathedral glass windows. You will have access to the whole upstairs section. Seating and table space is available in the open area and there is a small kitchenette area at the back with everything you need for breakfast and snacks. A microwave, electric frypan and induction cooktop enable you to cook if you so desire. There are two bedrooms available, a queen and a double . There is a king single out in the main room as well. Both bedrooms are at the front of the building and have unpainted timber walls and gothic-style coloured windows.

Guest access
Guests will have access to the whole of the upstairs where there is a kitchenette, the two bedrooms, a bathroom and a large open space with tables, seating and games. Wifi is available. Guests are also welcome to use the downstairs kitchen and living area on prior arrangement. There are numerous games on hand including scrabble, cards, boardgames, ping pong, quoits and a couple of original games handcrafted by your host Angus. Plenty of books about including some interesting local information. There are books and toys for children also. If you get the desire to dress up and pose in front of the Old Boonah backdrop there is a rack of costumes. There are a few handmade retail items to browse along with some curated cast-offs. We also have a 180 acre bush property bordering Mt Barney National Park with a glorious creek, bush cabins and an outdoor kitchen that can be included in your visit. Please ask for more information.

Other things to note
I run a sewing/costume business from here so am often in the sweatshop downstairs. Angus is an artist and builder and often has projects on the go. From time to time we may need to access something from upstairs but we will respect your privacy.

My work: self-employed
I am from Brisbane and self-employed as a textile artisan/costume maker. I love books, films, gardening, scrabble and the bush! I make costumes for museums, clothes for clients and textile pieces for my Etsy shop. I live here with my partner Angus who is an artist and builder Our daughter Bella (actor/teacher) lives in nearby Brisbane. We also have a son Monte who currently lives in San Francisco where he works as a megatronic engineer for a small start-up company. We now have 4 delightful grandchildren. We have done a lot of travelling over the years and have a small casa in Spain that we try to visit as often as possible. Our current project is a wilderness block near Mt Barney national park where Angus is creating a variety of cabins. We are an active household with lots of creating, cooking, reading and game-playing going on.
