A log cabin vacation home with charm & character, nestled in the hills of East Sooke Park close to the Pacific ocean.

With partial views of the Sooke Basin, it's seclusion in one of the world's most naturally beautiful places. Our open-concept log cabin has been designed for the comfort and convenience of guests looking to recharge and explore spectacular nature.

The space
As the photos show, the cabin is tall with beautiful log beams, and a ladder to the Eagle's Nest, the second bedroom. With lots of places for climbers to take risks and get hurt, our cabin may not be suitable for small, adventurous children. Please make sure our place works for you.

Access to the smaller loft is by a sturdy ladder. Not difficult to navigate, but not quite as easy as stairs.

The bedrooms are both open lofts, so they do not provide total privacy if you are traveling with friends or two couples.

The cabin shares 2.5 private acres with our home, but we will leave you to be completely self-sufficient. Of course, we will be available by text should you need anything!

Please note that the driveway to our house passes the cabin so we may drive past from time to time.

Also note that we do have a cat and dog on the property, that do go outside, but are very friendly! Please let us know if you would prefer not to make their acquaintance.

Where you’ll be

Sooke, British Columbia, Canada

Deerhaven Cabin is located in East Sooke Park, across the basin from the town of Sooke. The Coast Trail in East Sooke Park is a highlight hike in Western Canada, it is approx 10 km and can be done in a day. There are also many shorter loops to take within the park, suitable for all levels of hikers.
Aside from being in one of the most beautiful natural areas in the world, there are some modern conveniences nearby:

There is a small grocer/convenience store 5 minutes away that stocks basic groceries, as well as a year-round food truck.

The 17 Mile Pub is a 12 minute drive; great patio with a private liquor store nearby.

There are various local farmer's markets on the weekends.

For swimming, Aylard Farm (ocean beach) is 10 minutes away, Matheson Lake (great for swimming, SUPing or floating) is 15 mins away, and the Sooke Potholes (river pools) are 25 minutes away.

The Galloping Goose trail is popular with walkers, horseback riders and bikers, and can be taken from the Sooke Potholes all the way to Victoria.

We are two young professionals who love travelling, the outdoors, and relaxing with a nice bottle of wine in the backyard.

During your stay

Our house faces away from the cabin so we won't see you much, but we are usually close by if there is anything you need to make your stay more comfortable.
