Travel across the ferry at Settlement Point (it only takes 3 minutes and costs $5) to Akuna Luxury Waterfront Retreat.

Upon arrival at Akuna Luxury Waterfront Retreat you will be greeted by your host Linda who is your personal chef.

Relax in the sunset lounge, where beautiful views are only outside the large louvered windows or on those cold nights the winter lounge greets you with warmth from the open fire. Enjoy our complimentary refreshments served once you have settled in.

The Akuna River Suite offers Queen size bed, timber feature walls with built in side tables, soft pendant lights imported from Israel, Sheridan 100% bed linen, large en-suite with heated towel rails, rain showers, bathroom products, air conditioning , ceiling fans, wardrobes, bathrobes, hairdryer, tea and coffee with complimentary chocolates, and beautiful river views from the large floor windows.

Akuna Luxury Waterfront Retreat is an ideal spot to unwind with a book, or to quietly contemplate the naturally calm surrounds, perfect for bird watching and dolphin spotting.

The lounge area throws open its louvered windows to catch the river activities. Interiors are chic; travertine floors, wool and hide neutral floor rugs, sheoak wall paneling, soft pendant and floor lights combine to create a relaxed, contemporary style and streamlined luxury.

Relax in style as the sun dips behind the mountains to an amazing array of colour.

Watch the river activity from the river edge garden: Cruises, BBQ boats and fishing boat pass every few hours. Sailing is on Thursday afternoons and the ferry passes every few minutes. If you are really lucky you will even see The Island Trader that services Lord Howe Island. There are fabulous views through the channel of Pelican Island where kayaks and swimmers enjoy the shallow protected waters. Settlement point picnic area is just across the river. Only a short stroll through a nature reserve to Coal Wharf where you can picnic or try a horse ride along the beach (bookings essential). North Beach has 4WD access (permits essential).
Maria River Road (unsealed) will take you to Gladstone & Crescent Head a wonderful day trip.
Enjoy safe swimming from your own private beach on those hot days! Why not go for a paddle or SUP?

There are 2 private and beautifully appointed bedrooms with ensuites; the Botanic Suite and the River Suite.

Spring water, tea, coffee, seasonal fresh fruit and in house refreshments are provided in the lounge bar 24/7.

Complimentary homemade refreshments and wine upon arrival.

Dinner upon request within 24 hours notice and is an additional $75/head, paid directly to Akuna upon departure.

Situated on the North Shore in Port Macquarie we are a short car ferry ride to the small residential community. Only 300m to North Shore beach and nature reserves makes this area the most quiet, tranquil and private location in Port Macquarie.
