Welcome to the Old Stables, a beautiful and stylish barn conversion near Freshwater Bay on the Isle of Wight. This property was originally part of the Farringford Estate owned by Lord Tennyson, the world renown poet.
Nestling at the foot of the downs the property is located up a private lane in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is within easy walking distance of Freshwater Bay - the local beach - nearby shops, a superb cafe/bar and friendly pub.
The space
The spacious accommodation, which enjoys views over the neighbouring fields and beautiful countryside, consists of an open plan Living Room/kitchen with a woodburning stove (together with initial supply of logs and kindling) a sofa bed suitable for children/extra guests (please note additional prices apply, see below) - a cosy Double Bedroom with its own en-suite shower room plus an additional separate shower room/toilet.
A well equipped Kitchen with a full size cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, a good range of pots, pans and cooking equipment plus plenty of work space and cupboards makes it ideal for those who wish to cater for themselves - please note there is no dishwasher.
A selection of teas and coffee and a small bottle of local milk are provided to make a drink when you first arrive.
Good WiFi, a full size TV with Netflix and a selection of board games and books will ensure you are kept entertained should you wish to stay in.
Covid 19
We know our guests really appreciate that we keep the property very clean. Since Covid 19 we have put in extra measures to minimise the risk of infection. Please ask us for our information sheet and the choices that we can provide.
Other things to note
The Old Stables has easy access to many stunning walks in the surrounding countryside.
We welcome 1 well behaved dog - at least 12 months old (sorry no puppies) - although we do have to make a £20 cleaning charge.
The property is close to the Round the Island Cycle Route for those who prefer to use 2 wheels and secure storage is available for your bikes should you decide to bring them.

I’m a retired primary school teacher living here on the Isle of Wight with my husband Phil. We started letting our converted barn - The Old Stables, Farringford Farmhouse - in April 2018 on Airbnb. We live next door in the old farmhouse and it's great to be able to welcome such an interesting variety of people. In our spare time we love exploring the outdoors and enjoy the quiet and beautiful tucked away places around the country.
