A very beautiful, peaceful place to stay. The house is architecturally fascinating and the interiors beautifully and tastefully designed and maintained. Our accommodation was spacious, very comfortable and with lovely light and views out to the rural setting. The breakfasts, spec…

Thanks for your fine appraisal of what Kenmare and I have to offer Miranda. I can vouch for the truth of the beauty of this corner of the world especially now when we are basking in Indian-like weather and have been for a miracle several weeks.

I can't say enough good things about this property/ host. She gave us recommendations for everything from hiking locally to shopping in Dublin. They were all spot on for what we wanted to do and our trip was far better for it. It is an easy 10 min drive to Kenmare (far easier at …

Many parts of our time at Ecolodge were excellent - it's a lovely house convenient for Kenmare, we had a large room with a comfortable bed and the breakfasts were delicious (with a wonderful variety of interesting fellow guests) - and if we had been able to stay for the nine days…

This home is comfy, and so nice to find an eco friendly respect for the environment reflected here. Wonderful choice of localy sourced foods, teas, and coffee. Once you have good directions this out of the way treasure is worth the effort. Ann is extremely knowledgeable about the…

We spent 4 lovely nights at the Eco Lodge with Anne. She was very welcoming and had our room ready. The view from our room was just stunning, we loved it! The drive out to Anne's home is beautiful countryside beneath a canopy of trees. The area is just gorgeous, unspoiled nat…

Travellers would do well to take notes from this wonderfully detailed description of the local area offerings in their trip to Kenmare area. Thank you Jan. I think you could possibly sell a small feature article on it to your local paper at home or to a guide book. It is better than the information contained in many guide books who seem to focus on beds and bellies and not the wonderful experiences to be had in nature and small villages.

Aine did not make us feel welcome in her home. I was so surprised with all her good reviews. I feel it could be a risk to expose some of these details however I LOVE Airbnb and I feel people should be aware. Unfortunately my parents, my 1 year old and myself did not have a pleasa…

one knows when one is receiving guests and one knows when one is being treated like rather an inconvenience for being there... This family would have been much happier in a self-catering situation. So would I. Guests might want the run of the house for themselves, and this family most definitely fell into that category. Of course I invite guests down to the main sitting room. By all means. All depends and it quickly becomes apparent how to set ones boundaries....when one must protect one's corner for oneself, lest the 'herd of elephants' come and over-run and trample all in their path. This family were soon dubbed 'the herd of elephants' and yes, I failed miserably to keep some sort of order. Throws and cushions from upstairs rooms ended up being discovered in other rooms downstairs. An heirloom knitted doll which is an ornament in the main king bedroom was discovered being dragged across a glass window downstairs by a very young child. A family gang up and a comment 'oh its just a doll' (from the mother) where the step too far....and no problem with babies having baths if only the mother had communicated beforehand and booked the room with the bath and does a man in his sixties really have to run up and down the stairs between one room and another for several trips between the hours of 4pm and bedtime and again the next day. Aine was not only not happy, Aine was thinking of giving up B&B altogether. Only, she that the next guest who rolled in - also Australians - and after tea and a very civilized chat about adventure by the fire in the big sitting room a feeling of peace is restored......not that the guest sitting room/ library room with its natural materials brick red velvet sofa, african textiles and shelves of books has ever caused anybody any pain before Josie. And Josie all rooms have views - all look on mountains, trees, pristine landscape. but you know, one knows when one is receiving guests who are interested in other places and cultures and one knows when one is being treated like rather an inconvenience for being there........ as I said, 'had this family really, truly communicated their needs to me in good time, I would have suggested they would have been much happier in a self-catering. And so would I. And so would I! .
