The space

Cozy, quiet studio with view onto its own private, planted terrace.

Located in downtown Paris in the 11th arrondissement all Paris is easily accessible by metro (Ménilmontant, Père Lachaise, St Maur stations), bus (96, 69 lines), bicycle (Velib) or walking.
+ Nearby tourist sites are Père Lachaise Cemetery (Jim Morrison!), Bastille, trendy Oberkampf (100+ restaurants/bars within a 15 minute walk).
+ Studio has view on its own garden with table/chairs for outdoor picnic with light and electric plug for your computer. Light proof curtains if you just flew in from Oz :)
+ Well equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer, microwave, induction hob and extraction fan, toaster, boiler, expresso maker, ample storage, lots of food to get you started and a Franprix market a 3 minute walk.
+ Tiled bathroom with large walk-in shower and good pressure.
+ Real bed, not foldout, very comfortable with good reading lights. Large closet with safe.

Even Better...
+ FREE TELEPHONING to over a hundred countries like North America, Australia, China etc) Yes, FREE. Not sure how but it works. Not to cell phones outside North America however.
+ High speed wi-fi, books etc.
+ Air-conditioning, heating, indoor/outdoor thermometer, street parking.
+ Rates cited are weekly but are reduced for longer stays or increased for less than a week.
+ Linens are provided by Bill but guests are expected to clean the studio at departure (not the linens!!!) because we live 2 hours out in the country.
+ Studio was completely renovated in 2010. It is about 22m2 (250ft) for the apartment and 11m2 (13ft) for the patio. Interior is painted white with photos by Cartier-Bresson. Note that I am a photographer and took the interiors myself with a 17mm wide angle lens which, like the Airbnb official photos, makes the apartment look a bit more spacious than it is in reality.

Great apartment. Sadly it was a bit too cold for me to enjoy the terrace but it was a great location and the apartment had everything you could need.

Make sure you bring your own laptop stocked with any movies/music. Water heater will last for a single luxuriant hot shower. Lovely view out onto the patio, which would be ideal for spring/ summer use. We got to look out onto a snow-dusted patio while we were there. Kitchen i…

We stay in Bill’s studio for a week. Bill is communicative that we can easily reach him by call and he has sent us a full description of the studio upon the trip. For the location of the studio, we get there by taxi from the Orly airport, it takes around 35 mins and cost 35euro. …

Response from Bill:
We spent SO MUCH time on the telephone about EVERYTHING. Besides the issue of manipulating the key to enter the apartment (explained in the doc sent to them) apparently the wifi caused them problems. Unfortunately they were there at the busiest time of the year for people calling their families - between Xmas and New Year - so it was predictable the building's wifi signals would have ups and downs. I gave them options for a better signal: the nearby McDonalds for example, or any of the restaurants/bars along Bd Ménilmontant, or by using the mobil hotspot with roaming on their smartphones, or buying a portable USB router that plugs into their computer. They were right however that I need to supplement the fibre optic router with another, one for each apartment. My apologies for that inconvenience. As for "no professional cleaning" the apartment was left clean for when they moved in. Normally they should have left it reasonably clean for the next renters. "Cleanliness" is a condition in the eye of the beholder. "35-45 mins from the attraction"? What attraction were they referring to. They knew its location when they rented it. By Metro/bus all Paris is within 30-40" of the apt. Next time perhaps they should rent a more expensive apartment closer to the "attraction". Heaters? There were two: a large wall-mounted Toshiba heater/ac with remote control and a portable 2000 watt one in the closet to supplement it. It would have to be brought out, plugged in and turned on. The water heater? I believe I mentioned it contains 75 litres. Maybe the boyfriend could take 5 minute showers?

I'm an American living in France for 30 years. My wife and I run the "Champagne B&B" an hour east of Paris and rent out two small apartments in the city. Photography is my passion which you can peruse by googling cerf, book, fr.
