Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
A raw Australian experience overlooking the lush vines of the McLaren Vale wine region. Set on a secluded hill top, you can light a fire in the pit there, watch the kangaroos hop and the sun set over the vale whilst sipping on a local wine. With an Aussie "drop dunny" toilet and kangaroos at you door step we offer an opportunity to get back to nature in a stunning camping spot whilst resting in a comfortable and cosy bell tent.

The space
Tent on a Hill 1 is set on a 10 acre bush and farming block. Guests enter via a 500m long driveway from Bell Road up to Tent on a Hill 1, where there is room to park a car.

The bell tent contains a queen bed and houses two guests comfortably. However, we welcome up to four guests if you are happy to sleep the additional people on a thin mattress on the floor.

There is no running water but we leave some drinking water in the tent, cutlery, glasses and plates for two, a wine bottle opener, insect repellent spray, and a washbowl and jug (full with water) with two hand towels and soap. The outside bathroom consists of a non flushing dry drop toilet with a hand washing basin (with water jug), camp shower (approx 20L per person) and a mirror.

Tent on a Hill 2 is approximately 250m away and out of view. Guests are welcome to book both tents (independently) and can access Tent 2 via a lit walking path on the occasion of large group bookings. Otherwise, the two tents are completely private and do not share ammenities.

Guest access
Please feel free to take bush walks as long as you respect the land. Our property is fenced, so please remain within the fenced area and make sure you take all rubbish with you or put it in the bin in the tent.

Other things to note
Please respect the local fauna including snakes, kangaroos and mosquitoes. Do not approach them and keep the tent zipped up when unattended or sleeping for your own comfort and safety.
You are welcome to light a fire in the fire pit in the winter months and bring your own bbq or camp stove to cook. Please be aware that the fire restrictions in the area are between the 17th of November and the 12th of May. Please call Isabelle for further information on this matter.

We are a family of five, living on a bush block surrounded by vines. We love the outdoors, travel, music, food and wine. We have been travelling on and off for the past ten years, our most recent adventure was to Ireland for 12 months. We respect and value the land around us and are overwhelmingly conscious of it's magnificence and beauty. In the busy world in which we all live, we can retreat to our sanctuary each night and listen to the birds, watch the kangaroos and think our own thoughts.
