The Glass House is a superb designer conversion of a former stained glass workshop in the heart of Bollington with a private sheltered courtyard. It’s ideal for up for four people who want the flexibility to explore the peaks but still be able enjoy local amenities from the doorstep.

Whether your thing is real ale, wine, fine dining, ethnic cuisine or café culture, you are absolutely spoilt for choice with seven pubs and a several places to eat all a very short walk from the front door.

The space
- Covid 19 safety measures -

For your (and our) safety we have signed up to the AirBnB cleaning Protocol.
Following our re-opening in July we will be following all the guidelines laid down by both AirBnB and the UK Government. For the foreseeable future we will allow two full days before and after guests have stayed at the property to enable us to follow the required turnaround procedure.

The Glass House draws you into Bollington life the minute you step over the threshold. A unique, upside-down, detached 19th Century cottage set in The Heritage Triangle of Bollington, Cheshire, on the edge of The Peak District and The Cheshire Plain. Steeped in history this designer conversion has previously seen life as a stained glass workshop, reminders of which can be seen in the first floor windows.
The property is something of a ‘Tardis’, widening out towards the rear from a narrow frontage in a quirky wedge shape. The cottage can comfortably accommodate 4 adults, or is an ideal retreat for a couple who prefer a bit more space. With two double bedrooms, one of which can be either double or twin bedded on request, and an elegant bathroom with rain shower on the ground floor, the staircase then leads you up to the first floor. Here you find the open plan living/dining/kitchen area with exposed roof beams and light streaming in from all angles through the stained glass windows and roof lights.
We have a passion for vintage style so the decor is an eclectic mix of modern with a few genuine mid-century pieces. Think Scandinavian 1960/70’s designer Günter Hoffstead.
Outside there is a private, secluded courtyard for those relaxing summer afternoons and evenings.
Ground Floor
• Entrance Hall leading to:
• Front bedroom with a double bed, blinds and curtains and vintage bedroom suite consisting of two chests of drawers and a double wardrobe
• Bathroom with bath and overhead rain shower, WC and basin
• Rear bedroom usually presented as a twin bedded room (when made up as a double the bed is king size width) with chest of drawers and bedside tables, open wardrobe and a cosy modern rocking chair for those quiet moments to escape and read a book

First Floor
• On one side of the central staircase is the living room area with corner sofa, additional leather sofa, coffee table and TV
• To the other side is the kitchen/dining area with breakfast bar, fitted kitchen with range gas cooker, double electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, and retro style fridge/freezer

Outside/Parking
• A secluded private courtyard which catches the early afternoon and evening sunshine with garden furniture
• Whilst there is ample parking in the adjacent free car park, for those guests who would prefer their car to be off the road there is sufficient secure space in the courtyard for a vehicle

We supply
• Welcome pack of milk, bread from the local bakers, home made marmalade, jam and butter

* Please note there is not a washing machine in the cottage however there is an excellent laundrette/drycleaners close by.
** During the current Covid-19 situation we will be rotating a selection of books and dvd’s between each guest’s stay. For health reasons we will also remove all of our information leaflets on places to visit, restaurants etc. However we have added as many as we can think of to our Guest Book and we are always contactable for any last minute advice.

Other notes:
Sorry no pets and no smoking – but if you wish to smoke in the courtyard that’s ok.
For a small town there is a fantastic array of pubs, restaurants and local shops all within 1 min walk from the cottage.
Although the cottage is located on the edge of Bollington’s small car park the area is very quiet so we would ask you to consider your neighbours and not hold loud parties.

Guest access
You'll have the whole property to yourselves.
Relax with a book in the cosy, bright, airy living space or enjoy cooking a meal on the range cooker and look out over the twinkling lights of Bollington while you eat.
Enjoy a sunny lazy afternoon/evening in the private courtyard ( where you can park your car if you prefer it to be off road).

Other things to note
There is such a wealth of places to visit around and about Bollington which makes The Glass House a perfect base. Whether you are a walker, a cyclist, a keen visitor to historic houses or you prefer city breaks you can access them all from here.

On the other hand you could simply stay local, have a few leisurely walks and simply chill out..... and we offer 25% discount on our rates for stays of 7 days or over.
