Location

Oturehua, Otago, New Zealand

Big open sky, mountains and rocky tors. Historic pub and general store a 5 minute walk down the road. Hayes Engineering museum, a 2min drive or 15min walk or 5min cycle.

Oturehua is located half way on the Otago Rail Trail and is a perfect spot to situate yourself to explore the Central Otago area.
The most interesting portion of the Rail Trail is located between Oturehua and Omakau. If you are not doing the whole Rail Trail, perhaps consider doing a day cycle trip and explore the historic rail tunnels and bridges.
A cycle hire and pick up service can be arranged at an additional cost.

During your stay
The home is my primary residence, however I stay in a separate stone cottage on the property when there are guests, which is private from the main house. I am on call for any assistance you may need and can give you as much privacy as you want, or more interaction if you want that too. The home is full of personal artwork and books. And if you wish, you can read about the journey to build The Strawbale House in a copy of my published book A Way Home (Potton and Burton).
