It is a short drive (or twenty five minute walk - it's 1.6 km) into the world renowned village of Kuranda where you can visit the markets, Butterfly sanctuary, see koalas, kangaroos, take a riverboat tour on the Baron River or browse the shops. Drive to Cairns to take a tour to the Great Barrier Reef or visit Port Douglas, the Atherton Tablelands or the Daintree.

The space
The Space: The cottage is self contained and is separate from the main house. There is a kitchen with modern twin infra red hotplate, glass oven and microwave. There is a fridge/freezer and plenty of cupboard space. It comes fully equipped with toaster, sandwich maker and all utensils required. The lounge/diner has an extendable table, the lounge chairs are recliners for your comfort. There is a large tv which is capable of playing dvds. There is a selection of dvds for your entertainment as well as a selection of books and magazines. The large bathroom space has a large shower and also a washing machine and dryer. There is a private deck with umbrella and cafe seating for your enjoyment. There is a tropical guest garden directly outside the cottage door. There is also air conditioning for your comfort

Where you’ll be

Kuranda, Queensland, Australia

In the village of Kuranda there are a network of interlinked walks which take in the village, the river and Jumrun Creek. There are multiple places to enjoy a coffee or take lunch. Try home made tropical icecream from the red ice cream van by the Market arcade. Rainforestation nature park, the Barron Falls and Djabugay Aboriginal park are all local attractions. Take a tour on the world famous railway to Cairns or take a trip on the skyrail which goes over the canopy of the rainforest and stops at the Barron Falls so that you can visit before continuing the journey into Smithfield.

Born and bred in the UK (New Forest in Hampshire) I migrated to Australia with my husband and son in the 1970s. I now live in Kuranda where I just love the peace, tranquility and the (Website hidden by Airbnb) more winters for us! Now retired, my husband and I just love travelling and in the past few years have travelled to Europe, America, the middle east and India. When travelling we always use Airbnb and now wish to try hosting. We know what we like to find and experience when we are guests so I hope that we can bring that to our guests.
