First of all, I must say this hosting was a nightmare to me and I’m glad it’s finally over. Please hear my side of the story out to have a fair understanding of the situation.
The stay was booked by one person called Jorge, however, none of the two people who stayed at my place were named Jorge, however, there was a third person – a lady who communicated to me most of the time. So I had to deal with 4 people in total in two different time zones. The people who stayed here work grave yard shift from 2:00am until morning. you know how frustrating to communicate with them. Regarding to the parking, I have changed my booking setting to street parking prior to their booking. Maybe they viewed my places prior to their booking and did not double check again when they actually booked my place, that I don’t know and I have no control of, but I’m 100% certain that I did my part and changed to street parking prior to their booking.
When the guests arrived the second day, they had a huge truck which has an open trunk that was filled with equipments, However, I tried to help them with the parking, so I even gave them my 2nd car’s key and tried to save a parking spot on the street for them, however, they did that for couple days and one day my daughter needed to use the other car so I told them to find a street parking themselves for that day, it was very easy to find one on weekends and holiday. but they just started to park at my parking spot and didn’t even TRY to find a street parking themselves.
I don’t feel comfortable having them parked in my parking spot, as the open trunk is a huge target for theft and I recommended them to store their truck in the working place, I offered them they can use my car for free to go to work. However, they did not want to do that. I told them they need a gated parking for the safety of their equipments. The lady from mainland , She was not here and had no idea what the situation was but instead of being considerate, she was giving me a hard time on everything. I only texted them ask what time they check out, for the next guest, if the room is ready, I will let my guest check in at anytime, no extra charge, they forgot I checked them in late night, because their flight was delayed. I told them they have no any problem to stay until 4:00 pm. It was them disturbed me, One person who stayed here called me two times as early as 4am and woke up my whole family. After I recommended them to find another safe place, they just did not want to leave. because they can not find such a place doing their business. I tried to reach out to Airbnb support team to solve this issue, however, the process took so long, they kept changing people to solve this problem. I gave up.
I was praying the whole time, could not sleep at night worried if someone steal their machine, thank God everything was fine at the end of their stay. However, I learned a HUGE lesson that I need to learn how to reject people’s unreasonable requests. I tried my best to accommodate to all of their request, however, I know now that I just can’t make everyone happy. I regret I should cancel their booking at the very beginning just because they work grave yard shift. Good luck to their future hosts.
I appreciate all my guests and even including this one as I learned lessons from them. I believe my future guests will love to stay at my place and I’m looking forward to meet my next guest and I will greet with my warmest Aloha hosting spirit. I live in Hawaii, we are all one Ohana. Thanks.
