A TRULY UNIQUE EXPERIENCE -returning guest review

✔ Proud to be rated as GOLD KEY SUPER HOSTS by Airbnb since 2014!

✔ Go off-grid in this yurt with a Cedar Hot Tub all situated in a pristine wilderness in rural Pennsylvania.

✔ This is the place to reconnect. This is the place to be in touch with the environment.

✔ Did we mention the cedar hot tub is ALWAYS AVAILABLE for use?! :-)

The space
✔ This is an ideal vacation spot for our city friends looking to unwind and disconnect!

✔ The yurt is off-grid, but we do supply you with two solar chargers if you need to charge your phone. We also use a composting toilet for the cleanest and most environmentally-sensitive relationship to the surroundings.

✔ This is off-grid glamping so you will have a shower stall and hot water for bathing.

✔ We will supply you with some firewood, matches, bed linens, towels, bath soap, shampoo, paper plates, cups, plastic utensils, 5-10 gallons of fresh drinking water, pots and pans, grill utensils, an ice chest, salt and pepper, paper towels, a wash basin and dish soap, dish towels, toilet tissue, hand sanitizer, a camping percolating coffee pot, coffee cups, two solar chargers, and a flashlight.

✔ Along with your food and clothes, you might want to bring a charged up Bluetooth speaker, a portable battery charger for your phone, ice, a small bag of charcoal, and coffee grounds.

✔ Local attractions include: canoeing down the scenic Susquehanna River, wine tasting at the local vineyards, fascinating antique shops, hunting (in season only), skiing, golfing, biking, hiking, birding at the Wyalusing Rocks, state parks, and only about an hour from Knoebels!

✔ Sleeps 2 people in a queen-sized bed. (The yurt sleeps a maximum of 2.)

The area is widely known for birders. The property has nesting birds of many varieties including red-tailed hawks, robins, owls, hummingbirds, phoebes, blue jays, mockingbirds, king fishers, pileated woodpeckers, among others. Other noted aviary visitors include bald eagles and migrating geese.
Fauna on the property include deer, foxes, groundhogs, chipmunks, squirrels, and rabbits.

Guest access
Guests have access to the entire yurt area and surrounding woods (c. 40 acres).

The main house and environs (which includes, brook, red barn, pool, and fire pit all of which are not in the woods) are off-limits. The ATV path behind the main house is also off limits to our yurt guests.

This area of Mehoopany is sometimes called Champion Mountain, so named for the family who once live on our property. The ruins of their old homestead dates back to the late 1700s. The are only about 10 other houses within a mile of the cabin and many of them are our relatives, as one might expect for an old family farm.

The closest public transportation available is in either Scranton or Wilkes-Barre. Our guests drive their cars or rent one to get to the country.

Check in time is from 4-7pm. This is strictly enforced. Late comers will be charged a $50 inconvenience fee. No check in allowed after 9pm.

Other things to note
Hunting is not allowed on our property while our guests are in residence. We have posted clear no hunting signs on our property.
Hunting seasons in Pennsylvania are noted on the Pennsylvania State Game Commission website.

We have a house on property and we may host other guests there. We will always let you know if there are guests there and we will always ask them to respect your privacy.
This yurt is in the woods and we do have insects. Please be prepared and do not leave doors and windows open if you do not want bugs flying in.

Amenities Operational Schedule:
Hot Tub: Always open!
Shower: May 1-October 15
CLEANING PROTOCOLS: All surfaces will be cleaned according to CDC guidelines. We take this very seriously.
