The PS Federal is a very relaxing and calming place to go. Very secluded and I parked my car Friday and did not start it until Monday when we left. Not recommended for a family holiday but absolutely perfect for a romantic break or in our case friends having a quiet weekend to recharge the batteries. The birdlife is amazing, and a couple of fish caught as well. Will be goin back again for sure!!!

This decommissioned boat offers a unique experience. It's over 100 years old, so very rustic, but with an added heater, hot water, and electric lighting. The location is amazing, close to a marina with a restaurant and only a five minute drive to town, but very scenic, right on the river with marsh grasses and water surrounding the boat. Beth is a great host, very available and accommodating. I did find that charging my devices was challenging: the charging device on board was very slow and there is no way (that we could ascertain at least) to charge a laptop. Beth tried hard to help me with these issues, but it is in the nature of a solar-powered boat. During my stay, I saw pelicans, black swans, numerous ducks and other birds. And if one walks or drives out to the end of the barrage, there are sea lions within 20 feet. The dunes and beach are expansive and beautiful.

If you are looking for serenity, privacy and a very special experience, The Federal is the choice. Arrive with a fun attitude to 'the difference'. The mornings and evenings are magnificent. We loved it.

This is a totally unique experience. The location is sublime, and the "boat" very comfortable, cosy and totally charming. Guests should understand that they will need to adapt to the 12V solar power and tank water situation, but this just added to the novelty of the experience. Imagine....sitting on deck, with feathered friends as visitors, watching the sun set over beautiful, tranquil wetlands....divine!

A beautiful boat and location, if you like a unique experience and are a lover of nature this won't disappoint. The boat is spotless and Beth and Dan provide more than just the basics-a bottle of wine was a lovely welcome and there was a cooked breakfast option if desired. Beds were comfy. A lovely area to explore on foot.
