Don's place was much better than what we saw in the description. The place was very clean and it was great to have private garage space! A lot of essentials like water, chips were available in the apartment. The place was very quiet with cozy beds and heater in every room. Kitch…

We enjoyed our time in San Diego! The location was great with two parking spaces. Close to the beach (about 15 minutes), grocery stores, and restaurants. The community was quiet and there was grass for my grandson to play a little. Don was a great communicator with detailed i…

The host, Don, sends very friendly text messages. He texted a few videos to help me figure out the apartment location and parking. He also offered a choice of having a repair or credit for the broken toilet handle which I hadn’t even reported to him – he said his cleaner report…

Response from Don:
J, thank you for the constructive feedback. I will certainly take my cleaner to task for the deficiencies you noted. I apologize for your experience and wish you had communicated with me at the beginning or at any time during your stay so that I could at least have a chance to address the issues and provide for a better experience. As I mentioned, I was out of the country during your checkin and sent you a text the following day, upon my return, to bring up the toilet handle to offer to make your experience better. I pride myself in delivering a great experience for my guests as I am a firm believer in that AirBnB is more than just a site used for lodging but, rather, a network that people can tap into in order to feel a sense of home wherever and whenever they may travel. As such, different people have different ideas of what a home should look/smell/and feel like. Many of my guests, including the ones that occupied the unit prior to your stay, like to cook and utilize the kitchen. Even with a thorough scrub down, sometimes culinary scents linger, particularly when ethnic cuisine is involved, and this may explain the scent that you encountered upon arrival. With regard to the carpet, I wish you had been more fair in your assessment and noted that the only areas of concern would be in the doorway (regular wear and tear due to guests not taking off their shoes) and around the living room tables (small coffee or food spills over time) and that the bedrooms were perfectly fine. At the end of the day, it is your experience that matters though and not my defense of my home. Next time, if you encounter an issue at another host's home, it might be best to communicate with the host so that they can help provide for a better experience for you.
