3 bedroom house with 2 bathrooms in the beautiful tranquil village of Ronch, San Tomaso Agordino. There are Stunning views of Mount Civetta and the surrounding mountains from all windows and the 2 balconies. The house is in the heart of the Dolomites with access to wonderful hiking, skiing and many other activities.

The space

On one floor, the house has a large open plan living room/kitchen. The kitchen is large and fully equipped, there are two ovens (including microwave oven), dishwasher, full length fridge, full length freezer, induction hob and two sinks. The kitchen has everything you'll need for food preparation, cooking and dining. The living area has a large sofa with TV and a dining area. There is a also a bathroom and balcony.

On another floor there is 1 en suite double bedroom and 2 other double bedrooms.

In the basement there is the boiler room and washing machine, there is also one room which will not be accessible. Outside the house there is space to park the car and gardens either side of the house. The track to the house is a little narrow so for bigger cars it may be better to park in the small carpark by the road, 100m away. There is also an attic space but this will also be locked.

Ronch is a small village situated at 1,267m altitude. It is a peaceful beautiful place with breath taking views of Monte Civetta and other surrounding mountains. It's a safe place for the children, there are open spaces and the house is at least 100m away from the road. The road itself never gets very busy.

Ronch is the perfect place for a relaxing family holiday and a great base for exploring all that the Dolomites have to offer. There are many mountain hikes right out the door of the house and within short drives there are many places of outstanding natural beauty.

The views from the house are wonderful, the sunset colours on Monte Civetta have to be seen. The night time show of stars are lovely an you will likely see some of the local wildlife, including deer.

You will be able to fill your days with many different activities or simply relaxing in the tranquility that Ronch offers:

Zip line - very close to the house there is the San Tomaso Agordino zipline

Adventure park - nearby there is a pretty cool adventure park up in the trees

Rivers and waterfalls - there are some great rivers and waterfalls nearby. One in particular is in Val di San Lucano. There are breathtaking mountains, rivers to paddle in and waterfalls to admire!

I recommend using digital maps. Download an app called Tabacco. The app is free to download and then each map costs EUR 2.

Here are a selection of hikes:

From the house - it is possible to hike to the peak of Sasso Bianco. Ronch is at 1,250m and the peak is 2,500m. The start is steep but when you get up to 1,900m it is less steep and the views are great. You don't need to get all the way up to get the views. There are also many alternatives. Also there are some nice hikes in the forest in and around the house.

From Alleghe - Val Civetta and Lago di Coldai. Go to Alleghe and take the cable cars to Col di Baldi. This is at 2,000m and then you can hike up to the lake and the Val civetta.

From Passo Giau - about a 40 minute drive. It is a famous pass where the giro d'italia often goes. From here hike to Mondeval and then to lago di federa. You can either hike back the same way or to a circuit with a bit of hiking on the road.

Lago di Sorapis - a famous lake. Drive to passo tre croce and then use the tobacco map to hike to lago di sorapis. Nice hike with some ledges to walk along where you hold on to steel cables..perfectly ok. There is a hut near the lake to eat in.

Lagazuoi - drive to passo falzarego. You can either walk up to the lagazuoi peak via the old World War I tunnels or take the cable car. The tunnels are very cool. There is a hut at the top to eat in.

Cinque torri - drive to Rifugio bain de dones. Hike up path 424 and 425 to Cinque Torri. There are many world war I trenches to walk in here and the views are nice. You can always walk up to Nuvolau as well. Around Cinque torri there are huts to eat in.

Passo Rolle - from here there are spectacular views of the Pale Di San Martino. Baita Segatini is nearby where there is a famous view with a lake.

Passo di valles - from here there is a nice hike up to lago di Luribrutto. Trail number 631.

High mountain passes with car access - I can recommend the best mountain passes accessible by car. When arriving at the pass you can explore on foot.

Stunning mountain views - I am a professional landscape photographer and I will be happy share my favorite views.

Lake Alleghe is less than 10 minutes drive away - there is a lovely relaxing walk around the entire lake. There is also a beach area for swimming in the lake but the water is a little cold (ok for the English but probably not for Italians!). It is possible to rent pedalo boats and bikes

Mountain lakes - there are some high altitude mountains lakes with easy access that I can recommend

Mountain views from over 3,000m - I can recommend some local cable cars which take you high up into the mountains with special views

Local canyon - not far away there is a beautiful canyon, You can either walk it or take a ride

Canyoning - if you are particularly adventurous you could try canyoning - it is an incredible way to get intimate and wet in the heart of a river/canyon with ropes and jumps (this must be done with a mountain guide)

Mountain biking - there are plenty of trails off the beat and track for mountain biking. You can rent bikes in Alleghe (10 minutes drive)

Inflatable play area - In Falcade (12 mins drive) there is an inflatable play area

Children's play area - nearby there is a great place for kids to play with small lakes

There are plenty of outdoor playgrounds in and around Alleghe. Also there are many tennis courts.

Swimming pool - If needed I can get you access to an indoor swimming pool owned by a local hotel

Guest access

The entire house is available aside from one room in the basement and the attic.

Interaction with guests

I live 15 minutes drive from the house and will always be available. I can make recommendations for day trips, activities and restaurants.

Other things to note

Restaurants - My favourite restaurant is in Hotel Europa in Alleghe - the food is fantastic and there is a terrace facing onto the lake. There is also a great Enoteca in Alleghe, kids are very welcome.

There is no wifi at the house but the mobile 4G coverage with Vodafone and Tim is very good (up to 70mb download speed). It is possible to buy 10gb of data with Tim for EUR 10 or 30gb for EUR 20.

It was the right location for a short break in the mountains. We enjoyed staying in a modern and stylish place right in the mountains, where we were able to start great hiking tours straight from the place without needing to drive a lot. Jon was very supportive with recommending trips and tours. It´s a great place to stay even with children if they are not very young. In the evening we cooked dinner in the fabulous kitchen. We had a lot of fun staying in Jon´s house and will come back again.

Jon's place is comfortable and spacious, sitting in a small hamlet off a mountain road above Alleghe. The view and kitchen are both really great!

I live in the Dolomites in Italy and work in London. When not working I like to spend as much time as possible outdoors. My big passions in life are landscape photography, skiing and kite-surfing. Why stay indoors when there is so much to explore outdoors. I've traveled a lot ove…
