Built many years ago as an advanced Buddhist learning center, this is a home with great energy. There are 6 comfortable, guest bedrooms. The coffee lounge always has fresh brewed, great Indian coffee. The library has an eclectic collections of books that you may borrow but you must promise to return! The gardens have quiet corners to read, write, paint or just sit & stare.
With tales both real and imagined, it is a true mountain escape.

The space
The energy here is special - the perfect place to finish that manuscript, paint a picture, heal a broken heart, or build a romance. Couples, writers, artists, people who enjoy the essence of the mountain, the space and peace will so enjoy being here.
Lovely day hikes, quaint Himalayan temples, the market is a walk through the woods. Manali old town is a short walk away. Some great restaurants.
Manali is the gateway to the high mountains of Ladakh and Spiti where I have led numerous driving, rafting, and trekking expeditions.

Guest access
Guests have access to our coffee lounge where you will find fresh brewing coffee, some fresh baked cookies or cakes and fruit available through the day.
Our Library Bar has a great collection of books and is a lovely room to relax in.
The top floor solar is a sun-filled space leading out to the terrace and the views. The garden is a lovely space with benches to retire to with a sketch book.

Other things to note
We have fresh produce, milk, and eggs come from our neighbour up the mountain. We grow some of our own vegetables and are in the process of expanding the kitchen garden. Our water comes from a high mountain spring, specially piped to us.

Location

Manali, Himachal Pradesh, India

Manali, located in a place of absolute beauty, is a tiny town that explodes with visitors come summer. However, the valley of the Beas river never fails to enthrall, the very drive up starts to make you smile as you come through the tunnel and the high mountains open up ahead.

I have been coming here for many years, first in an old standard herald driven all the way up from Coimbatore. Later on the night bus with a backpack, ready to go exploring the many amazing treks and trails that this and the adjoining valleys offer. Then on, driving safaris, crossing over the high passes and into the magic mountains of Spiti or Ladakh. Every time this tiny town was the beginning of an adventure and a haven at the end of it.

In this little town, tucked away out of the hub of the Mall and the honking horns, is this haven of tranquility, good taste; whispering pines and snow-capped mountains - The Lama House.

My life is a continuous adventure and I am currently I am happy to share my wondrous home in the mountains of Manali. A conscious living space surrounded by apple orchards, deodars and wind in the trees. The Lama House is a place for people that want the tranquillity of the mountains, walks up the hill and picnics in meadows. Good books in the garden, amazing views, a chat with the neighbour. Great coffee, great whisky, some good tea and nice people to get to know. Wandering is what I have done best, which introduced me to people, places, experiences, adventures and great learning. Recounting the stories keeps me reliving them. I grew up hiking, trekking, camping, sailing, exploring. I took all I knew and created and ran Outdoor Adventures India, one of the best wilderness adventure companies, I had a grand time doing it for almost 23 years. I now run the Outward Bound programmes for India. Experiences made for learning and and development of young adults and youth - a most rewarding thing. I am a certified senior executive coach and counsellor. Over the years I have found myself counselling numerous young persons through life choices, work & developmental issues and the whole gamut that creates growth. It is wonderful to find you can create a difference and help. I travel, write and promote some of the best trips/locations I find and help you customize trips from my huge storehouse of amazing places. Having trekked, rafted, driven in most parts of our subcontinent, and various parts of the world, I am happy to share my discoveries and it is a joy to plan an interesting holiday. That I am able to find both sinful luxury and budget travel an almost equal enchantment helps. Professionalism, honesty, style, spontaniety, humour, adventure, friendship, good manners & magic are important words in my dictionary. In life – for me – the happiness quotient is the basis of success.
