Nestled among the rolling hills of Victoria’s North East is Sawmill Cottage Farm a rural retreat ideal for those looking for a place to stay in the countryside
The cottage is spacious & fully self contained including a cosy wood fire,
A/C, comfortable bed, ensuite, kitchen & lounge area
Have fun meeting the farm animals and bottle feeding the orphan calves.
Enjoy visiting the local wineries, exploring bush walking tracks or visiting the fabulous cafes & restaurants in the north east

The space
The cottage is part of the old sawmillers workshop which has been renovated sustainably using recycled materials and interesting old pieces found around the farm.
The cottage is solar assisted and harvests its own rainwater supply.
Mobile Phone reception works best with Telstra
The cottage is a completely open plan space solely for guests use, which includes a comfortable Queen size bed, lounge room area, kitchenette with gas cooktop, small fridge and microwave. The cottage sleeps 2 guests and is a separate building located a short distance from the main homestead with its own private entrance and car parking.
All linen, towels, pillows and blankets are provided. The cottage has its own private en-suite with shower and includes all amenities
There is also a large 64 “ screen TV with a selection of DVD's and board games to enjoy along with a wood fire to keep you toasty and warm on those cold winter nights.
( All fire wood is supplied)
Netflix is only available for guests to use via hot spotting with their own wifi
The cottage also has a split system air conditioner to keep you luxuriously cool in summer
All guests have full use of the outdoor fire pit, swimming pool and bbq.
Fire restrictions apply
Fresh farm eggs and bacon is also provided so you can cook your own breakfast undisturbed along with a partially stocked pantry. Provisions include 2 x 200ml UHT milk, cereals, hot chocolate, marshmallows, coffee & teas.
The in-ground mineral salt swimming pool is available for guests to use between November to the end of March ( ideal when the weather is above 30 deg)
Enjoy a beautiful night swim with pool lights on throughout the night
Hint - in winter it is ideal to bring boots as the ground can get quite wet under foot

No Early Check In - unfortunately due to our busy work schedule we are no longer able to assist with early check ins. ( unless already arranged)
For supplies our nearest town is Benalla
20 minutes to Benalla
30 minutes to King Valley or Milawa.
10 mins to Winton Raceway.
50 mins to Mansfield or Beechworth
90 mins Mt Buller Ski Resort
We are located in Greta South, Victoria 20 minutes drive from the nearest township of Benalla. Easy access from the Hume Hwy and the perfect place for a stop over between Sydney/Canberra and Melbourne
FOOD & WINE REGION / ATTRACTIONS
The King Valley Region is home to some of the country’s leading producers of Prosecco along with a vast array of award winning wineries, breweries, fantastic country pubs & gourmet dining experiences. Many of our guests are also attracted to the amazing silo art, local events, arts facilities, bush walking, cultural heritage and local food and wine festivals.
Our area is also steeped in Ned Kelly history if you are interested in following his footsteps via the Ned Kelly Touring Route, Glenrowan & the Ned Kelly Vault Museum in Beechworth all are well worth a visit.
ANIMALS
We are a working farm so you will hear animal noises at times, particularly at feeding times around 8:30am and just before sunset.
The farm is home to a menagerie of animals including friendly dogs. At times we will be out and about feeding animals and attending to jobs around the farm
Depending on the time of year you may even be lucky enough to view the birth of calves or lambs, which is very exciting
Lambing time end of June - July 2021
At present we have four orphan dairy calves we are bottle feeding. Guests are most welcome to bottle feed a calf .
Bottle feeding approx 4:30pm each evening

We can highly recommend thehomestead@glenwood for 2 - 12 guests or groups looking for a place to stay in the north east. A stunning homestead located on a large cattle farm 15 minutes from Benalla.
Guest access
We are a small working hobby farm that is constantly changing and evolving. Our farm animals are mostly tame and friendly although because some are large they can be potentially unpredictable
This includes strictly no pets, service or support animals allowed.
Being a farm our fences are electric please do not touch them they will give you a shock.
Guests have access to the entire farm except the machinery paddock and the main homestead
Guests are also welcome to take a walk on the property and enjoy the views and gorgeous sunsets over the surrounding hills.
We do ask that you respect our animals and ‘very importantly’ please leave all gates, open or closed, as you find them.

Please make sure to list the correct number of guests on your reservation and keep us informed of your time of arrival
It’s also a good idea to add the Airbnb app on your phone so we can communicate with you on the move.
