The space

GREEN ACRES is a boutique retreat nestled in the "far east Austin" town of Elgin, Texas (25 miles east of Austin). For folk looking for a place to retreat and experience “glamping" (glamorous camping)--this is the place for you! We have poured our love of hospitality & design into our land with a desire to provide an intentional and sustainable retreat for our guests. We offer two yurts, a vintage Spartan trailer, a vintage Airstream trailer & an "Eco" Cabin to rent, all listed separately, with a barn, outdoor kitchen, corral, animal field, bathhouse, and walking trails for all guests to enjoy. Green Acres is family friendly - but not child proof. Lots of room to play and enjoy the animals, ping-pong, etc, so please just be mindful of kids when out here. **Weddings & Photo Shoots Welcomed.** Find us on the web for more info.

Guest access

You will be able to enjoy our communal vintage barn (we were told it belongs to the LBJ family when we bought the land), our communal modern bathhouse (full private shower room with eco friendly amenities, separate toilet, as well as washer/dryer), our walking trails in the woods, our mini donkeys + Alpacas, our corral fire pit (perfect for cocktails and s'mores), our picnic tables, ping pong table, outdoor sound system, binoculars for bird watching, cards and other family games, horseshoes, hammocks, well equipped outdoor kitchen & BBQ grill. Most common YES+NO questions = YES! We have towels and cookware YES! We are a 100% no-smoking facility. YES! We have Firewood for the corral. YES! enjoy a free water (1 per guest) (as well as some other goodies we leave in your room upon arrival), herbs from our garden, French press or pour over coffee, and s’mores as a complimentary part of your stay. NO - Pets unfortunately aren’t allowed (safety for all guests and your Pet) NO - Firearms or Fireworks. NO - Food, Shoes, or Candles in the Yurts. NO - Unapproved Outside Visitors The tool shed, Spartan & Airstream (unless you have them rented) and upper portion of the barn are OFF LIMITS. We also do not recommend walking in the woods off any obvious paths as we do have wildlife on the property we want to protect (as well as avoid any poison ivy and potential snakes). WIRELESS: Hopefully being "unplugged" is part of what attracts you to staying at Green Acres so we do not have wireless access... but most cell phones do work on our property. Cell phone coverage is good with most carriers at the Property. There is no landline phone.

Other things to note

With the charm of glamping in the country comes the sounds that make it naturally awesome. It is calm and peaceful but different seasons bring crickets singing you to sleep or perhaps the far off coyote howling at night and the occasional "hoo hoo-ing" of owls in the distance. The birds, hawks and neighbor’s roosters will greet you in the morning. There are earplugs in drawers of each yurt if you would like to use to block the nature noises.

This place was amazing!!! I cant rave enough about it! The property was absolutely adorable, the community barn/kitchen was perfect, our host even brought over mimosas on Saturday morning, and the yurt was bliss! The bed was so comfortable, the ac worked perfectly, i felt like i was on a fabulous African safari right in the middle of TX. Can't wait to come back!

My husband and I stayed in Yurt#1 at Green Acres to celebrate our two year anniversary. The weekend we stayed, we had the whole place to ourselves. Brad was super easy to communicate with and even called to answer questions and gave me his cell number to contact with any questions/concerns. It was fun have the donkeys and alpacas as neighbors for the weekend and the facilities were all well stocked and clean. The only downside was the extreme heat (100+ every day we were there), but that's obviously no one's fault (except maybe ours for picking the last weekend in July to stay in a Yurt! :P). I could see how it might have felt a bit more cramped if others had been staying on the property at the same time, but I think it would be a great location for a group of friends or family to stay together for a long weekend. It was conveniently located for the things that we wanted to do, we were only 25-30 minutes from Austin and Bastrop, both of which we spent time in during our trip. Because of the heat and the other things we had planned, we didn't get to enjoy the whole property, it was just too hot to be out of the shade for long, but we would definitely consider coming back in the fall or winter.

April -- Thank you for staying with us. Yea....Summer time can be tough in TX and please know that we appreciate you staying with us. We are about to start a ton of things to help us really grow and provide more ways for people to be outdoors and still be comfortable in the future. Please come back and stay with us in the Fall / Winter / Spring. It's GLORIOUS. Thanks !

This place is charming and provides a great location to disconnect and spend some time off the beaten path. There is a lot to discover around the property and plenty of places to hang out and explore around the barn. The kitchen is well equipped and it was a treat to prepare breakfast in such an open space. Good coffee stocked in the fridge was a definite plus too! I had a very relaxing time here and in the future will definitely keep Green Acres in mind!

Green Acres was great! The place was beautiful! We enjoyed it very much. We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves the entire time. Just note that it is pretty close quarters, so if anyone else is booked when you are, you will be sharing everything with strangers (bathroom, kitchen, privacy). Not sure if we would go again if others were booked as well, but would definitely go again if we were alone. It would be fantastic for a large family to book the entire place for a vacation.

Amber -- Thank you for coming to stay with us. As we continue to expand Green Acres, there will be lots of private amenities that we will be adding to address this very thing. We look forward to having y'all back again !
