Emily was a gracious host and her guesthouse was cute, clean and serene and in a great location in Venice. Depending on your vacation needs, this may or may not be the place for you. The reason why I say that is that although Emily and her place was great, the location itself so…

I feel a bit blindsided reading this review. I love my home and I’ve had many happy guests here (using other platforms) normally for a month at a time. This is the first mention of these types of complaints. I realize all guests have different needs and expectations but if you communicate with your host in the moment, sometimes dis-satisfactions can be promptly resolved. I never got this chance. When I asked if everything was ok and if there was anything at all they needed Angela said they were fine. Had known about these issues, I would have done my best to accommodate their needs to make their stay more pleasant. I gladly would have talked to my neighbors and asked them to keep the dog in the house and keep a lower profile. The windows facing the front house are tinted and although it’s easy to see outside it’s difficult to see in through dark screens and tinted windows. The window at the other side is above eye level from outside the house so it’s not really a privacy issue (not that my neighbors ever look into my windows anyway). Had I been made aware and able to explain this it might have helped them feel more at ease. I keep my windows open all summer and find the temperature perfect. Being this close to the beach there is always a breeze. Besides, noise from an AC would be way worse than planes (to me). Venice is dense living and pretty much anywhere you go, you can hear your neighbors. This is the tradeoff for being so close to the beach. Also, please keep in mind this was FOURTH of July week, which is probably the noisiest weekend of the year, there is commotion everywhere. My neighbors who normally work long hours are hardly ever in the yard might have been more present because of the holiday weekend. In any case I wish I had know sooner because my goal is always to have happy and comfortable guests and am truly sorry they didn’t enjoy their stay more. As a health conscious individual who’s life work has been in the natural health field, I wouldn’t dream of eating food from a microwave no less have one in my home, and yes the planes from Santa Monica are annoying but clearly not enough of a deterrent to keep folks from purchasing $3.5 million homes on my block. Please guests, if you aren’t happy with something tell your host. It’s not fair to keep your complaints a secret and later give negative feedback. We work hard for you to have a good experience so your honesty in the moment is greatly appreciated. We want you to be happy.
