Captains Rest is my pride and joy, my haven of peace and serenity in a stunning secluded slice of world heritage area that I love most in the world.

I spend months here on end, reading in front of the fire, taking long baths, walking in the forest, swimming, fishing, dreaming, loving — and like me and every guest who has ever stayed, you'll never want to leave.

What a unique experience! Amazing, tranquil location. I saw Captains Rest in Country Style magazine and had to stay there during our Tasmanian holiday. I was not disappointed. The interior decorating is as beautiful as the waterfront view from the vast windows and little veranda…

This was probably the most unique place we have ever stayed. The interior was clearly a labor of love and the tranquil setting by the water was perfect. The evening light through those lovely big windows was a highlight. We will spread the word.

This tiny piece of paradise in a remote part of Australia deserves all the applause it receives. Beautiful, thoughtful, and personal. A little like an Alice in Wonderland moment... how is so much loveliness contained in such a small space... without feeling contained at all? Apri…

We are all about soaking it up. Walk in the forest next to Captains Rest, swim in the water, fires on the beach and long nights reading in front of the fire. Watch the night stars reflect on the water…

Getting around
