Isolated from the outside world, among the vineyards and terraces, Quinta de Sta Marinha harbors a Guesthouse with the most fantastic view of the Douro River.

The uniqueness of its architecture lies in perfect balance with nature and the landscape shaped over the centuries by the culture of Porto Wine.

Ideal for a weekend break or a longer stay we welcome you to enjoy the UNESCO classified landscape of Douro Valley.

The space

The Guest house is a recently opened structure with all the modern commodities that blends in perfectly with the surrounding landscape.

You will enjoy private bedrooms with private bathrooms facing one of the most incredible views from the Douro River Valley.

If you fancy reading you can take your time at the library discovering a variety of Portuguese and local authors.

Guest access

This listing is for 1 bedroom with a Queen bed. If you need more rooms we have 3 extra rooms (1 room with a Queen bed and 2 rooms with 2 single beds and a sofa bed) and a Suite with a King bed and a sofa bed available.

The guests have access to all the Guest House: the living room, the kitchen, the library, the swimming pool.

Other things to note

VERY IMPORTANT! The house is inside a farm and so the drop pin on the listing points to the entrance of the farm and not to the house. You should look for the little chapel called "Miradouro de Santa Marinha" in Castedo and the entrance to the farm is a brown gate on your right just before the chapel on the road that leads to it. Then you will take a dirt road, pass a crossing and enter a vineyard on a steep slope. The house is at the end of the vineyard on the left.

We stayed with Cidalia for two nights and was overwhelmed with the stay. Her house and little corner of the world is one of the most spectacular spots we have ever visited. The property is so welcoming, the house and room was impeccable, the breakfast was delicious (with fruits and jams provided from her own trees!) which was enjoyed every morning looking at the breathtaking view and the pool was warm. Cidalia and her son where so helpful and kind, providing us with a good plan to visit the Douro valley, giving us fresh bread to accompany our cheese dinner by the pool and ensuring our stay was everything the portugual has to offer. Hope to come back soon and can not recommend this place more.

Cidália has a wonderful home, in an amazing region and on top of that, she is a great person (as a host and a cook !). We definitely recommend Cidália's place and hope to come back ! We also recommend having dinner "at home". You will taste typical portuguese food with products directly from the property (olive oil, fruits and wines !!!). The breakfast is both huge and tasty... Even better when you have it on the sunny terrace facing the Douro!

This place is very, very, very special. The photos do not do it justice and show how amazing it is. If you want ultimate relaxation in an awe-inspiring setting, with genuine people you must stay here. Cidalia's guest house has a panoramic view of the most amazing area of the valley. The view is absolutely spectacular. You have it from your room too—we would wake early in the morning and open the door to view it from bed. The house has a balcony where you can eat breakfast that looks over this magnificent landscape. Every area of the house is spotless. modern and quirky. It feels very exclusive because she only has 4 guest rooms as well. But most importantly Cidalia and her son are amazing hosts. The food they serve is excellent—do try it! Her son is a keen baker, and I am convinced he could win GBBO. His almond tart was amazing. We had two excellent meals with fantastic local red wine. Her cooking is better than the restaurants we went to in Portugal! We will be back!

Cidália's home is beautifully situated among row after row of vineyards and olive trees on a hillside overlooking the Douro Valley, about a 3 minute drive to the adorable town of Castedo. We had a little trouble finding the place using (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps - so use Cidália's directions. Her home is beautifully decorated with modern and antique features and the view is unbeatable. Cidália was a fantastic host. She tailored her local suggestions to things she thought we might like. We loved visiting the town of Favaios. Her breakfasts were tasty and if you have a free night, take advantage of her cooking skills and have a traditional Portuguese dinner at her place. We can't thank Cidália enough for a trip of a lifetime. We hope to be back one day!

This is as amazing as it looks! Incredible views, stunning building and Cidália was a fantastic host. If you don't feel like going into Pinhao for dinner, the family dinners at the house is highly recommendable. Go there as fast as you can!
